Join us for the University of Scouting on August 29th at the Frank Fickett Training Center. Come for the morning or stay all day and choose from classes across Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, and Older Scout programs.

Ben S:
Ben is moving on from middle school to 9th grade at Lake Travis High School next fall.

OnuaGuche I:
OnuaGuche is graduating from middle school to high school. Joining a venture crew and traveling and experiencing all the adventures life has.

Shaurya K:
Shaurya is excited to start his new chapter and move on to high school. He is also starting his Eagle journey in parallel.

At Techlab, campers study a place that is out of this world! The scenario: a committee of top explorers wants to know if youth can survive in the extreme of the deep space environment. They are creating a program to help teach youth to survive and explore where not even light can reach! Are you prepared for an expedition of a lifetime?

Scout salute to our Scouts graduating from high school! Rex De Leon, Alejandro Snyder, and Christopher Agostinelli will walk the stage soon. Check out the amazing things they have in store for what’s next.

Rex De Leon:
Rex is a Scout with Troop 4277 and earned the rank of Eagle Scout in January 2026. He is graduating from Pflugerville High School, where he was actively involved in the PHS Panther Band, Varsity Cross Country Team, and National Honor Society. In the fall, he will attend Texas A&M University to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Education while serving in the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets.

Alejandro Snyder:
Alejandro plans to attend college to be a Welder with a minor in photography and ultimately become a Welding Inspector. He has earned both these merit badges and has taken welding in HS for the last 3 years.

Christopher Agostinelli:
Christopher will attend Harmel Academy of the Trades for its Gap Year Program this fall, and then attend Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology the following year to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Aerospace Engineering.

Scout salute to Danny Kaiser, who was recognized with our council’s Distinguished Alumnus Award for 2025 during our May Executive Committee meeting!

Danny joined the United States Air Force out of high school and as an earned Eagle Scout in 1957. As a proven leader, he was appointed Airman in charge of a group of trainees on arrival at boot camp. He continued to excel, graduating third in his class and culminating as a Crew Chief in Vietnam. Danny has provided leadership in all his jobs, from lead technician over an assembly line, job foreman, and company superintendent. Working with heavy truck repair, he was trusted with safety concerns as inspector and test driver for all repaired trucks. Danny was co-founder of the Southeast Travis County Volunteer Fire Department, serving as assistant fire chief and captain of A Company for over 10 years. He is a current member of Lone Star Chapter Military Vehicles Preservation Association for more than 25 years, and president for four of those years, and event coordinator for 15 years. Danny is a life member of the VFW and has served in various positions, including Commander of Post 8925 and Post 856.

Danny has been active in Scouting, receiving the Vigil Honor, Founders Award, District Award of Merit, and Silver Beaver Award. He has served in many Scouting leadership roles, is active in the Waterloo and Colorado River Districts, and is a regular volunteer at our council’s annual Eagle Scout Recognition Reception.

Scout salute to our Scouts graduating from high school! Congrats to Yannis Papanikolaou, Angel Medina Castro, and Ayen Messick! The future looks bright! ☀️

Yannis Papanikolaou:
Yannis is graduating from Akins Early College High School and will be majoring in Civil Engineering at Oregon Institute of Technology. His goal is to transform transportation systems across the U.S. and beyond.

Angel Medina Castro:
​​After graduating from high school, he plans to continue his education in music. Music has always been an important part of his life, and he plans to continue pursuing it while exploring next steps. He will also focus on growing his skills, serving his community, and building leadership.

Ayen Messick:
Ayen will attend Penn State in the Fall of 2026 to start a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He aspires to a career in motorsports as a trackside mechanical engineer, working directly with race cars in design, analysis, testing, and performance optimization. Ayen is passionate about contributing to an industry that reflects the influence of his mentors while developing engineering solutions that push the boundaries of performance and safety.
