It's National Dog Day you say??! Dr. Pepper wanted to know if that means extra treats, and we told him yes! While we love celebrating all the animals, today is for the dogs. As part of our Clear the Shelters adoption special all the adoption fees are waived this weekend. We have some very good dogs hanging out at the shelter right now, so if you want to celebrate National Dog Day with a pup of your own stop on by, we open at noon!

"Am I Kenough?" Yes Ken, you are! Ken does more than just beach, he's 3 years old and an all around sweet guy. Ken is pretty new to the shelter so we don't know much about him, but those gorgeous blue eyes are ready to convince you he needs more treats and walks. Ken seems like a fairly active dog who would love to join your family. As part of our Clear the Shelters adoption event his adoption fee is waived all weekend so swing by and tell Ken what a good boy he is!

This young cat is Charm. She was brought to AHS by a volunteer working with our Community Cat Program. Our veterinary team noticed she was bending her front leg and refused to put weight on it, so they hurried her to our X-ray machine. The X-ray revealed a bullet stuck in her leg – unfortunately, her bone was completely shattered. In order for Charm to live a pain-free, happy, and healthy life, her leg needed to be amputated. She is currently recovering in a foster home, receiving the love and care she deserves. Meet Shadow! This happy go lucky pup is just the sweetest. Shadow gets along great with other dogs, is house trained, crate trained and knows a bunch of commands. Blueberry Pancake, or just Blue to his friends, is coming up on his two year anniversary with AHS. Blue has been so lucky to spend the vast majority of that time in an amazing foster home, but the truth is Blue wants a permanent home of his own. I know it's hard to read about long stay shelter pets, but the fact is they get overlooked often just because they've been in the system too long. In foster Blue is very easy going, a bit of a couch potato and very well mannered. He enjoys walks around the neighborhood and lounging on the couch. Blue's passion in life is stuffed toys, he is an expert at shoving more than one in his mouth at a time! He is house trained, a cuddler and will definitely make you laugh every day. The only thing Blue asks in exchange is he be the only pet in the home, but he loves every human he meets. He is a gorgeous misfit looking for his perfect match.

Hi there, I’m Dill the kitten! You’re probably wondering why I have a button on my chin, you see before I came to AHS I had an injury to my jaw that caused some of my skin to be pulled away. The great veterinarians here at the shelter were able to clean and repair my injury, but needed to place a button on my jaw to take pressure off my stitches so that my skin can heal properly! Getting a medicated bath isn't too bad when you get to lick peanut butter off the side of the tub! Our clinic team always makes sure our animals get special treats and lots of love when they are stopping by for treatments or check-ups, and Salsa here quite enjoyed her peanut butter snack.

Meet Charlie the 5 month old puppy! While he can seems a little shy at first Charlie has the sweetest personality and is curious and fun loving. Charlie is still getting used to walking on a leash and his house training, but this guy loves toys, treats and meeting new friends. Sweet Junior Mint has been thriving in foster! At the shelter he could be shy and unsure of himself, but in his foster home this guy has been relaxing, getting along with small dogs and just having time to de-stress. He is crate trained, house trained and a pretty easy going guy. Even though he weights 55 pounds Junior is actually 31% chihuahua per his DNA results.
