We are Austin's oldest and longest-standing no-kill, non-profit animal adoption shelter dedicated to assisting Central Texas' most in-need cats and dogs.

Serving our community since 1952, the Austin Humane Society (AHS) is the longest standing no-kill shelter in Austin. AHS transforms the lives of animals and the people who love them through life-saving programs that find animals homes, serve animals and people in times of crisis, prevent future homelessness through spay and neuter, and engage the community to be a part of the solution. June is here and that means we have new member of our Good Dog Club! Copper is a handsome fellow with a very sweet nature and is calm and relaxed while hanging out at home. He’d make a great companion because he’s extremely loyal and loves to interact with people. He’s a medium size at 36lbs and is two years old. He’ll do best in a home with access to a yard and no other pets. Copper is hoping for a special kind of family who will give him a chance to show off his great doggie features. Also, Good Dog Club members come with all these perks:

🐕 30-day Foster-to-Adopt trial
🐕 Waived Adoption Fee
🐕 10 days of meds (if applicable)
🐕 Wire crate
🐕 Large bag of Heritage Ranch dog food
🐕 Four in-home training sessions with a designated AHS trainer

If you’re interested in meeting him, email [email protected] to arrange a meeting. Copper deserves a forever home. Please like and share this post to help get the word out!

Recently, a group of volunteers from Whole Foods stopped by the shelter to help us with some chores. From washing the van to packing food to cleaning kennels, these amazing people helped us so much that day, and we can’t thank them enough. It was a joy hosting them, and we hope they come back soon! If your business or organization would like to volunteer at the shelter, please visit the link in our bio or below to get started!

We know kittens are all the rage, but we have some mature cats at the shelter that deserve a chance, too! These loving babies are often overlooked because everyone wants a kitten, but what people forget is how easy it is to bring a mature cat into your home. They’re litter box trained, have their manners, and just want a place to chill. So, without any further ado, please meet Maria, Mowgli, Claudia, and Bokka! Stop by the shelter and fall in love with one of these babies!
