I finally get to show you this sweet pup! What a little doll. A client reached out to me for a special birthday gift for his girlfriend. How could I resist that face?

The final month of the nature journal! Hibernation, lake skating, winter birds and all the fun of Christmas!

Is November your favorite month? It’s kinda out there in no man’s land…not really winter, not really fall…but there are a lot of fun places to go and things to do in November!

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year! Do you know how leaves change colour? Do you know why stink bugs stink? Do you know which bugs migrate?

If I had a mushroom, I’d probably be in the Monashee’s because there are mushrooms galore!

August went to the birds! So many wonderful species in the Monashee Mountains! 61 and counting! How many can you find?

Noxious vs Native plants. Oof! What a battle!! I have first hand experience (lots of blisters to prove it) pulling out noxious Hoary Alyssum on our property. Hoary is toxic to horses and yes, my horses have a serious reaction to it. Let’s all do our part to encourage native plant growth and fight back those invasive species!!

Back to the Nature Journal! June is a time for relaxing, letting go and seeing the small things. DYK in Gaelic, Monashee means mountain of peace. Here’s a sample activity from June that you could really do anytime: “Gratitude Stone” hold a warm or cool forest stone in your hand. Think of one thing you are grateful for. Leave the stone in a respectful place when you are done.

New Zealand will always hold a special place in Earnan and Rachel’s heart! Earnan spent two years there after high school and Earnan and Rachel had a chance to visit for a month this December. What a magical place! So happy I was able to capture just a wee bit of its beauty for them! ❤️

I had so much fun painting paintings for our kids!! This one is Ella’s. It was a misty, foggy morning out on the xcountry field in Texas and I caught a few moments of her and her horse Indy as they galloped across the fields. I loved going back to this moment as I painted this scene. We were gifted so many beautiful moments like this that we shared together. I’m forever grateful.

Do you know why Kalamalka lake turns turquoise in the summer? Hint: it has something to do with minerals!
