Nasty’s. January 12, 2009.
Oddly enough, I don’t have a lot of footage from the weekly, but this is one of the few clips that I possess. Looking back, it’s hard to overstate how important this little dive bar was to my life.
For 21 years, I cut my teeth as a DJ at Nasty’s. It helped lay the foundation for my life in Austin, my career, and honestly, who I became as a person. I learned about music, people, relationships, responsibility, and occasionally how to function the next day after being out until 2 a.m.
All of this happened on a Monday night. A MONDAY. Whoever thought that was a good idea deserves both an award and a wellness check.
This Saturday, June 6, I’ll be celebrating that era with a special Nasty’s edition of at 3Ten . It also happens to be DJ Mel Day in Austin, which feels like the perfect excuse to get together, dance, reminisce, and make a few new memories.
My favorite people in the world from will be crashing the party, so come hungry, bring your dancing shoes, and prepare for a proper pizza-fueled reunion.
I’d love to see you there.

Hey friends and family!
This Saturday, June 6, is DJ Mel Day here in Austin, and we're celebrating with an Early Dance Party x Nasty's reunion at 3TEN ACL Live!
This one means a lot to me. Not only is it DJ Mel Day, but we're also paying tribute to Nasty's, the little Monday night party that somehow turned into a 21-year chapter of my life. It's where I learned how to DJ, made lifelong friends, and occasionally made questionable decisions that somehow helped me become an adult.
For one night, we're bringing it all back. I'll be playing the soundtrack of Nasty's from 1996 to 2017: hip hop, soul, funk, disco, dancehall, dance classics, and all the songs that kept us out way too late on a school night.
The mighty Home Slice Pizza is crashing the party, which means this is officially a pizza dance party. Honestly, that's the highest level of party.
If you ever spent a Monday night with us, met a friend, met your future ex, lost your voice, found your favorite song, or somehow made it to work the next morning, I'd love to see you there.
Let's celebrate the memories, the music, and the fact that we're all old enough to appreciate getting home before midnight.
Dance, drink, and get home EARLY.
7 PM to 11 PM.
Grab your tickets at ACLLive.com.
Hope to see you on the dance floor. ❤️
