Art & Empathy, the show I co-curated with Nicole Josephine Kline has an artist reception tonight at the Black Box Gallery at the AISD performing Arts Center from 6-8pm. We selected over 25 talented, diverse artists and I’m thrilled with how it came together. This theme feels more powerful and pertinent than ever right now. The show runs through April 24th. ❤️🖤❤️

Bandit. 2005-2025. RIP. I don’t usually post this type of content but yesterday we lost our best friend. She made it to a feisty 20 years old. I adopted Bandit when she was just 8 weeks old. She stole my paintbrushes the first day I brought her home and the name stuck. We grew up together over the past twenty years. She’s always been wild at heart, fearless, a great escape artist and fiercely protective. She bonded with my daughter from the moment we brought her home from the hospital. Attended countless tea parties, learned to play board games and dress up just to please her. She will be dearly missed,my heart is broken today. 💔

Inner Flame. Acrylic on canvas. SOLD📍 This is the first piece from my new series, Mystics-The Hidden Gaze . My work is about letting go of what no longer serves you and embracing personal transformation. Moths undergo metamorphosis, making them a powerful symbol of transformation, rebirth, and the cycle of life and death. Most commonly, moths are symbolic of death and the mysteries of the afterlife. Spiritually, death represents change, and the end of one thing so that something else can begin. As a nocturnal creature, the moth is associated with inner wisdom and intuition. It can be a guide, urging you to trust your instincts and find your inner light. They represent hidden things, what lies beneath the surface, and vulnerability. The duality of the moth is a reminder that we need all parts of ourselves to be whole.
