World Masters Rugby Festival – Oct 20-26 2024 / Riviera Maya & Cancún

Thanks to everyone that turned up yesterday!
I counted 25 of us getting a run in on Alamo City’s cracked, hot and dusty pitch.
Results were not what we wanted but there’s no one to blame but ourselves. If I recall correctly, both games were lost by a try difference(maybe 2 against Hobos) and either one could have easily swung to us, had we been able to make more of our passes connect. We controlled the scrum and lineouts well, and had quite a few good individual runs but failed to complete the finish. We’ll do better next time!
The final game between Rust & Hobos was also very contested and came down to the last play - Hobos were able to retain the trophy for another year.

Congrats to Zach Despain on the “little balls” award for being the youngest old boy of day. The “old balls” award went to a 65 year old Hobo, but Rick Russel was runner up at 62!!

Hope we’ll have another old boy fixture soon and the next Texas Masters is ours to host at Nixon Lane in Fall of 2023.

Texas Masters Tournament 2022 - Alamo City, Sept. 24th

Silverbacks old and new(aka anyone turning 34 by Sept 24th 2022)!!

Alamo City RFC is the host for this 5th iteration of the Texas Masters Tournament.

Old boys teams from Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and your Silverbacks will be competing for the trophy at Brooks Park - in a round-robin style tournament, with rolling subs and 15 minute halves, played on two pitches.

This will be a great opportunity to get a run in close to home, before the start of 15’s training and for anyone 34 or older traveling to Argentina the following week.

Let’s take that trophy back from the HOBOS and display it at the 50th anniversary banquet!!

Put this on your calendar and I’ll provide more details as they come in.

For what it’s worth - last time they hosted, we started at 11 AM and were done around 3 pm.

Texas Interstate Touring Side (T**S) will be competing at the NOLA Master's Tourney on Saturday, October 15. If your an Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio olde boy rugger or any where's else in Texas join us in New Orleans, LA for some 35+ matches.
