Over the course of about two years (since I've been an ACP customer), I've had a chance to really get to know and have some great conversations with the staff, mostly Tom Schnorr. Over time, I've taken many of their recommendations to increase my overall health, both physically and mentally.

During one of those sessions, Tom casually suggested I begin taking Lithium Orotate as part of the overall recommended regiment. Unknowingly at the time, Tom knew I was in a full-on hypomania from Bipolar Type II, which I had been doing my best to deny for about a decade at that point.

I never bothered looking up the reason for taking Lithium Orotate at that point, because who has time for small things like that when you're manically creating the next ground-breaking, world-changing thing in your apartment lab (again).

After running out of the medicine, I began noticing extreme instability, followed by a bit of a harsh reality that I am indeed, a bipolar human being. At that point, I looked into what Lithium Orotate does and was very surprised that it's an extremely effective mood stabilizer for BPII patients. I laughed, I cried, I called Tom and thanked him for essentially saving me from repeating the same insanity over and over again for the rest of my life.

Tom and team ACP - thank you for giving me my life back... you are absolute heroes to me.

May the world smile endlessly upon you,

-Eddie

The Austin Compounding Email Newsletter you probably just received is especially worth reading. I found the recommendations very informative, especially during the COVID-19 Coronavirus and remains of the Flu season. Tom Schnorr
Great to be Friends with Austin Compounding Pharmacy...!!!
Town Hall is now preparing Welcome Kits for new families that are moving into our community.

Our Welcome Kits feature and direct these new families to a small number of local businesses for the goods, services & professionals that they need to find.

Since our Welcome Kits are exclusive, and we can only accommodate one local Pharmacy, I would ask you to kindly let me know if you are interested in being featured in our local Welcome Kits.

It is worthy to note that, according to Dr. Cathy Goodwin in her book “Making the Big Move”, 69% of new residents and families seek out a new Pharmacy within 6 months of their relocation. As such, nearly 7 out of 10 recipients of our Welcome Kits are actively seeking a new local Pharmacy.

I would like to schedule a time when you are expecting me so that I may drop off a sample of our "Welcome Kit" and explain the program in greater detail.

Thanks.

High doses of vitamin C may help to reduce the effects of coronavirus. These ultra-high doses of vitamin C are proposed to fight the massive immune response and subsequent respiratory failure seen in coronavirus infection by suppressing the over-reactive inflammatory response in the lungs and slowing down the virus’ ability to reproduce and spread. High dose vitamin C can be delivered intravenously which makes it easier for the body to absorb and use. But oral vitamin C can also be helpful. A special form of over-the-counter liposomal Vitamin C can be taken at frequent intervals. Ask our pharmacist for more information.

Seasonal allergies ("hay fever" or seasonal allergic rhinitis) produce symptoms during certain times of the year, usually when outdoor molds release their spores, and trees, grasses, and weeds release pollen. While symptoms can be relieved with antihistamines, products are also available to help prevent the initial response. Ask our pharmacist for more information.

“Maskne” – or mask acne – can result from prolonged use of face masks. Trapped moisture, bacteria, oils, and dirt can clog pores and contribute to acne, rosacea, folliculitis and irritation. Your skin can also be damaged by friction if your masks rub your nose or cheekbones. Be sure to replace your masks frequently, wash your face with a fragrance-free cleanser, and use a moisturizer that won’t clog pores. Ask us about medicated gels to help with minor skin irritation, itching, redness and mild blemishes, including bases that may improve the appearance of red and blotchy skin.

In the early days of the pandemic, families spent more time than ever with their pets. As we head back to school and work, our pets may experience higher levels of anxiety about being home alone. If your pet has been diagnosed with a behavioral or cognitive disorder, your veterinarian may prescribe a compounded medication as an oral suspension or transdermal gel that can be applied topically to the skin. Ask us about customized medications or natural supplements to help your furry friends.

The FDA commissioned a study from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine on the safety, effectiveness and use of compounded bioidentical hormone therapy (cBHT or cBHRT). The NASEM committee has suggested restricting use of cBHT to patients with allergies to FDA-approved drugs, despite the fact that many FDA-approved therapies may not meet the dosing needs of all patients. The committee did not include a pharmacist with clinical experience, a compounding pharmacist or a physician with substantive experience in bioidentical hormone therapy. For decades, pharmacists around the world have safely compounded specific strengths and dosage forms of hormones using the highest quality ingredients (identical to those used in manufacturing FDA-approved products). Ask our pharmacist how to protect your access to compounded hormone therapies.

Often, a physical exam and information about a man's medical history are all that are needed for a doctor to diagnose erectile dysfunction and recommend treatment. Oral medications vary in dosage, how long they work and side effects. Sometimes, ED is complicated by low T levels. Replacement therapy might be recommended as the first step or in combination with other therapies. If you have chronic health conditions or your doctor suspects that an underlying condition might be involved, you might need further tests or a consultation with a specialist. Recent studies have found that exercise, especially moderate to vigorous aerobic activity, can improve erectile dysfunction. Even less strenuous, regular exercise might reduce the risk of erectile dysfunction.

Researchers from Queen Mary University of London looked at the free sugar consumption during pregnancy of about 9,000 mothers and how it influenced their children. Researchers theorized that a high maternal intake of fructose caused a persistent allergic inflammatory response in the lungs of the developing fetus. When comparing the 20% of moms who consumed the least sugar with the 20% who consumed the most sugar, cases of asthma, wheezing, hay fever, eczema, and atopy (allergies) in their children increased by 38% at ages 7-9 years. Between 1970 and 2000, the worldwide trend showed a 25% increase in the per capita consumption of all refined sugars. Current international dietary guidelines advise people to reduce their consumption of sugar, and more particularly free sugars, which include sugars (monosaccharides and disaccharides) added to foods or drinks by the manufacturer, cook or consumer; and sugars naturally present in honey, syrups and unsweetened fruit juices.

Multiple sclerosis degrades myelin, the protective sheath around nerve fibers that helps them communicate. Scientific studies have suggested that metformin, a medication used to treat diabetes, actually helps reform that protective sheath through a process called remyelination. Researchers are continuing to test this treatment on rats in the hopes that someday it may be part of a cure for this degenerative disease.

Vitamin C supports the immune system. A deficiency in vitamin C may increase the risk of infections such as the common cold, and vitamin C supplementation is commonly used to help with upper respiratory infections. Vitamin C may slow the progression of advanced age-related macular degeneration and the loss of visual acuity (sharpness). It may also have beneficial effects on cataracts and diabetic retinopathy. Vitamin C supports healthy skin, including promoting collagen formation and neutralizing damaging free radicals, particularly when used in combination with vitamin E. Vitamin C derivatives may decrease the synthesis of melanin (skin pigment), which may be helpful in reducing age spots. It’s important to include vitamin C-rich foods in your diet or take supplements to obtain this essential nutrient. Ask our pharmacist about the right dose and type of supplement for each member of your family.

July is UV Safety Month. While you have fun in the summer sunshine, it’s essential to protect yourself from the sun’s harmful UV rays. Use broad spectrum sunscreen with at least 15 SP that shields both UVA and UVB, wear protective clothing and hats, and seek out shade to protect your skin from UV damage. Don’t forget about your eyes! It’s just as important to wear proper sunglasses to protect your eyes from UV rays, which lowers the risk of cataracts.
