🌿🪵✨ Combining Mexican, French, and Moroccan traditions, Project Sombrerete was carefully crafted with solid Tzalam wood, clay tiles, and corian, and produced by the experienced hands of our Master carpenters.

🤎 Obra partnered with Michelin-starred pitmaster and James Beard Semifinalist, Chef Evan LeRoy, co-owner of Austin’s celebrated LeRoy and Lewis Barbecue ( #2 on Texas Monthly’s Top 50) and author of ‘New School Barbecue’ cookbook, to create the ideal Custom Kitchen Island for his home.

It was an honor for Obra Fam to design a piece worthy of this legendary chef and friend!

After installation, Evan, with the help of his lovely wife, Lindsey, and their daughter, prepared a perfectly Smoked and Grilled Tri-Tip & Wild Boar Tenderloin & full meal on his Obra Island. Their new butcher block countertop, appropriate ergonomic height, and custom storage, made the preparation as easy & seamless as the final result.

👉🏼 INGREDIENTS
▪️ 1 whole tri-tip beef (2-3lbs)
▪️ 1 wild boar tenderloin (1lb)
▪️ Your favorite BBQ rub

👉🏼 DIRECTIONS
▪️ Leave one chimney full of hot coals on one side of the grill
▪️ Set top and bottom dampers to half-open
▪️ Add two wood chunks to coals; Place meats on the no-coal side; Cook meats at 275-300ºF for 20-30mins.
▪️ Pull wild boar. Turn the tri-tip closer to the fire for another 15-20mins until it hits 130ºF internal temp.
▪️ Let both meats rest at room temp. for 15-20mins
▪️ Add fresh coals. Once ashy, sear meats directly over the heat for 1-2mins per side.

🔪 Rest briefly, carve, and share with your favorite people. Voilà!
