January Update - we've been working with Princeton Press and Wiley to get access for you to the texts during the course. We're very excited about this and the opportunity to bring you work from the '5 Elements of Thinking' and the 'Heart of Math' book. Thanks for all your questions on this and we'll looking forward to seeing you in February!

Hello and Happy New Year!
Rather than starting on January 21st, we will begin the ‘Effective Thinking Through Mathematics’ course on February 18th. During the past few months we have enjoyed creating content for this MOOC to help you learn effective thinking through mathematics. We were having so much fun that we filmed far more hours of students joyfully exploring ideas than we can include in this first version of this MOOC. So we are now distilling the course down to a more engaging size.

This MOOC is based on two books by Edward Burger and Michael Starbird: “The Heart of Mathematics: An invitation to effective thinking” and “The 5 Elements of Effective Thinking,” and the MOOC includes excerpts from these books. Neither book is required for the course, but we have arranged with Princeton University Press to give interested edX participants a 25% discount on the book "The 5 Elements of Effective Thinking.” We've send emails to everyone enrolled with the link!

Thanks to all of you for joining us, and we are very excited about hearing from you in the coming months!

Happy New Year,

Professor Michael Starbird and the ‘Effective Thinking Through Mathematics’ Team
