I turned a photo series into a video using AI (VEO 3)
I already had a photo series in mind for my first Google Veo experiment. AI is weird and unsettling, so I decided to lean into that. Years ago, I created a photo series titled The Electric Head, which follows a man with a head made of electricity through his daily life (swipe to see the original photos). I achieved the effect by attaching lights to my head and spinning it around during several-second long exposures. Light on concept but big on fun, it has always been one of my favorite projects.
Because of the sequential nature of the series, I used the photos as a storyboard for a video using the latest version of Google’s Veo generator. I fed them into the model with prompts for blocking and camera movement to generate the clips, then brought everything into Premiere for color correction, sound mixing, and final assembly.
And boom, I made myself some “AI slop.”
I kid, of course. I developed the concept, shot the original source material, navigated the generator to produce high-quality outputs, and edited the final piece for pacing. The end result is a direct product of my own creative choices.
Not going to lie: this was fun. Seeing my photos come to life was incredible. It’s a tool, but not a precision one. And it takes a lot of “divining” to get exactly what you want out of it. Having fun exploring the possibilities.

SXSW! It’s been a while. The festival ain’t what it used to be, but then again, neither am I. Joined the madness for a day to shoot some 35mm on my 45-year-old Canon AE-1. A few highlights.🤘🔥

I’ve spent the last few months diving into the world of vintage Kodak Brownies. They’re lo-fi, tactile, and surprisingly addictive to shoot with. I’ve been enjoying the simplicity and loving the look.
These highlights came from a Hawkeye, a Reflex Synchro, and a Holiday Flash (circa 1940s–60s). Shot on 620 film (or respooled 120) and 127 film. It’s amazing what these “budget” mid-century boxes can still do.

Fav shots of 2025! 📸🔥 Shot on a Canon 5D, Insta 360 X3 and an iPhone 13 Pro.
December 27, 2012: I took the Polar Plunge into Lake Superior.
My first trip to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and to Mandy’s (then my girlfriend, now my wife) hometown of Marquette. A proper Yooper initiation courtesy of my future brothers-in-law.
Still a great memory. Can’t wait to do it again next year. 🥶🌊
My 2025 editing reel! It’s been a hell of a year. I genuinely feel like I made some of the strongest work of my career, thanks in large part to collaborating with super talented people like Graeme Alexander, Rachael Hood, Mikey Kinlan and many others. I pushed myself, leveled up, and learned a ton along the way.
Big changes this year. Even bigger ones coming next. Here’s to 2026. 🔥🤘
