P.S. I was 6 years old here!

Update: Frankie's lab results from her vet visit are in! Almost all the numbers look good, especially for her age, 15, nearly 16 years young. The techs in the clinic we take her to always marvels at how good she looks!

She has lost some muscle mass in her hind quarters, but this is normal aging. Many years ago she did have an injury to her hip but didn't need surgery, just some help with pain so she could rest and her injury could heal.

The one red flag from the lab work is early signs of kidney disease. The numbers are borderline normal and the Vet recommended we start her on the kidney diet to help her keep those numbers from progressing.

For now we have her on senior food both dry & wet. She's a fiend for her crunchy treats but is good about eating both. We've been adding water to her wet food, as recommended, and she hasn't missed a beat in cleaning her plate!

I'm asking if anyone has suggestions on brands for a kidney diet. We were told NOT to stock up on any one flavor because cats are cats!

Hills Science Diet, Royal Canine (sp?), and Purina are the main brands I see online but there's little selection for flavors. Does anyone order from Chewy? Curious about your experiences. 😊

Thank you all for being so supportive and helpful. Your comments always brighten our days! The platform has been challenging this last year (frequently unable to react and/or reply to comments). It's been frustrating not to be able to regularly communicate with all of you.

We feel blessed to have her as healthy as she is and we all know how hard it is to see our furry kids go through the natural decline of aging. Even if I'm unable to react to your comments or respond, I'll always post. It's certainly a highlight to share this Old Grouchy Baby with all of you!

Update on Frankie: We had little issue getting her in the carrier this morning after last year's fiasco. The top loading door makes a big difference. Thank you for that advice!!!!🤗

Once at the vet, she had no sedation (thank goodness!) and they were able to do all the tests with the exception of the urinalysis which we will be doing ourselves here at home. 🫣

Vet is pleased with her overall health emphasizing we don't have all the lab results back just yet . She's only lost one pound and some muscle mass in her hind quarters which is all due to natural aging.

Our Old Baby will be 16 in the fall! The vet and the techs all made comments about how good she looks for her age. Clearly she takes after me, The Lady! 😁

Once the results come back, I'll post another update as the main concern is diabetes. This is also part of the aging process especially for larger kitties. Frankie has always been a chonk but we've never been told it's anything to worry about as she was always well within the lowest end of obese/overweight.

It is a relief to have a good report with the information we have. While we wait for the results of the lab work, please send some positive vibes Frankie's way. 👍🏻🙌🏻🙏🏻🤞🏻

As of right now, she's resting uncomfortably. The vaccine injections always make her drowsy along with the drool and some tenderness. Poor Boo Boo! 😕

We'll keep y'all updated on any news. We expect she'll be more like her old self tomorrow afternoon. 😻

Anyhooo, I gotta go to the vet for a checkup this week because The Bipeds think my Badonka has gotten smaller. 😳 I'm all for a larger caboose, but do I really need to see the vet? The solution is obvious!
