What a fun night with the DBT original rock stars! These amazing therapists invited me into their DBT consultation team 15 years ago (!). They were the first DBT therapists in Austin, and now there are probably over 100! I was a baby therapist and didn’t have a clue, and they taught me so much. We went to trainings in Salt Lake City together, and became close friends. What amazing women they are, and I’m so grateful for their friendship! ❤️

Are you holding yourself back in going for what you really want? Scared to rock the boat? Choosing safety and comfort can give us short term relief, but does not lead to a truly fulfilling life. I constantly have to push myself out of playing small, and when I do, it’s always rewarded. I encourage you to play big, and move towards your dreams, even when there is a lot of fear. Parenting teenagers is TOUGH. I work with teens AND I have a teenage daughter. We need people to talk to who are also going through it. Not just for our own well-being, but for the health of our relationships with our teens.
I will soon be starting a group for parents of teens. It will be an 8-week group, specifically for parents who have teenagers with mood and emotional difficulties. We will discuss ways to support, not enable, teenagers who are struggling. I will teach ways to RESPOND, not react, and ways to improve communication and connection with teens. Plus, parents will find that support from other parents that is so needed. 💗
