Epidural is not only birth plan.

Everyone thinks the discussion about epidural is the only birthplan but you have much more things to worry about especially who would support you during labour and delivery including first few weeks of delivery.

It includes who would care for your baby while your rest

It includes who would care for you helping you care for your body

It includes if you would be doing the vaginal birth and if there is need for C section, why??

It includes what you will eat as soon as you give birth instead of boring pizza you are given in the hospital.

It includes your all of these and more.

Is labor really painful as people say.

As a mother of 3 natural births with my home country and outside my home country with no usual support system, I woul say labor pains is very very painful without your support system around you.
However, labor pains is manageable.

It is usually painful when you do not know what to expect and everything is happening by surprise.

I noticed in this part of the world no one teaches what to expect even at your doctors visit.
You search for what to expect making you have information overload.

My dear pregnant sister, don't be afraid of that labour pain, you can do it.
And God that brought you this far will not leave you alone

1.Nobody warned me that pregnancy could feel lonely.

Not the kind of lonely where you're physically alone.

The kind where your phone is full of family photos from back home, but the people you would normally call are thousands of miles away.

Your mother isn't around to rub your back.

Your sister can't come over when you're exhausted.

Your best friend can't sit beside you and say, "Don't worry, I've got you."

And suddenly, you're pregnant in a country whose healthcare system you are still learning to understand.

You don't always know:

— Which questions to ask your doctor.

— What is normal and what isn't.

— When you should call the hospital.

— What happens during labor.

— What you're supposed to do after the baby arrives.

So you Google.

You join Facebook groups.

You watch TikToks.

And somehow, you end up with MORE information… but still don't feel prepared.

I want immigrant moms to know something:

You are not supposed to figure everything out alone.

Your village may not live in the same country anymore.

But you can still build one.

That is one of the reasons Care2Moms exists.

One of the most vulnerable moments in a woman's life is when she is pregnant.

I came from a country where getting where a woman can be pregnant but it takes a village to care for the baby. The thought that she has a support system makes her even more confident but when there's no support anywhere brings and even .

I have experienced both birthing within my home country and birthing outside my home country, I know truly what that support is to a pregnant woman.

Next time you see a pregnant woman, offer support she definitely needs it.
