Finally taking a moment to sift through professional photos from past weddings. Choosing all the best floral shots to showcase my work, promote my business, populate my website and social.

And the section of photos I usually browse through quickly to amuse myself stopped me cold.

After the ‘getting ready’, ‘details’, ‘ceremony’ shots you’ll find images of guests dancing. DANCING. They are laughing, hugging, romancing, showing off - just generally feeling themselves. CUTTING LOOSE. (And if you know me you’ll know why this yanked on my heartstrings bad). I stared at these strangers with watery eyes. It seemed like a fairytale; a fantasy. Too good to be true.

And I thought of all the couples who have had to delay their fairytale wedding. Their moments of pure bliss when they would glance across their dance floor and know they were surrounded by all the people they love the most. Celebrating, rejoicing without a care in the world.

My heart goes out to all the couples navigating this time. I know we’ll get back to this. We have to. We are resilient. We are flexible. We are human. We will dance.
