Sometimes you get a glimpse of what’s taking root. 🌱

This weekend, our Confirmation students stepped away from the usual routines for time together — to ask questions, have honest conversations, worship, laugh, and think more deeply about what it means for faith to become their own.

One student shared that while he already feels a deep faith in God, he hopes his life will have a purpose that allows him to share that faith with others and make a difference for Christ.

Another talked about how hard it can be to make time for God every day — and left the retreat wanting to change that, even if it means simply setting aside a few intentional minutes.

And one of our adult leaders shared something we love:

“I go because I want to mentor them and strengthen their faith, and so often I leave these trips feeling like they did that for me. I leave filled up by their deep faith and their true vulnerability with each other and with me.”

Some students arrived with a faith that already feels deeply rooted. Others are just beginning to figure out what they believe and what a relationship with God looks like for them.

There’s room for both.

Because Confirmation isn’t simply about inheriting the faith of your parents. It’s an opportunity to wrestle with it, ask questions, grow in it — and begin to call it your own.

What a gift to get to witness a little of that happening. 🌱

What an epic Redeemer Kickoff Sunday! 🌳

A huge thank-you to everyone who helped make the day possible, and to all the families who joined us in the August heat!

We celebrated with our kids leading us in song "Firm Foundation (He Won't)" and a powerful message from Pastor Michael centered on our theme, Rooted in Jesus' Love. He walked us through trees all over Scripture — from the Garden of Eden to the cross (which the early church literally called "a tree") to the tree of life in Revelation, whose leaves are "for the healing of the nations." Along the way, four real trees became pictures of Christ's love: aspen groves connected underground (wide), the ancient Bristlecone pine (long), the towering sequoia (high), and Africa's deep-rooted shepherd's tree (deep).

The invitation for this year: get honest about what your soul is actually rooted in — and let it be Him.

The celebration continued with a family picnic, bounce houses, a teacup ride, face painting, animal encounters, balloon animals, and so many moments of our church and school community simply enjoying time together.

What a joyful way to begin another year at Redeemer — rooted and established in love. (Ephesians 3:17) 💙
