Our two most recent Camp Paramount performances featured an exciting new theme created by our resident Education Musical Director, Tyler Mabry: MAGIC, MYSTERY, & MONSTERS! ✨👻🪄
This spellbinding r***e showcased pop and musical theatre favorites that are a little mysterious, a little spooky, and full of magic. Audiences were treated to everything from Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition,” Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra,” Michael Jackson’s iconic “Thriller,” “Magic to Do” from Pippin, and beyond...with plenty of enchanting surprises along the way.
Here are some of our favorite photos from these last two performances, shot by Kevin.

Did you know we offer a camp version of our award-winning Story Wranglers program?
Camp Story Wranglers recently wrapped up with an incredible final performance at Doss Elementary School! Every story, every song, and every prop featured in the show was created by the 45 talented campers we had the joy of working with this summer.

The show must go on!
Our Camp Paramount State Session 2 campers learned the true meaning of that phrase when a water main break caused minor flooding at the State Theatre, forcing their final performance to relocate just around the corner to Central Presbyterian Church.
Thanks to their hard work, resilience, and dedication, the campers quickly adapted to their new stage and delivered an incredible performance of “What’s in a Name?” — a musical r***e featuring songs with names in their titles, from “Hit the Road Jack” to “I’m Just Ken.”
A heartfelt thank you to our friends at Central Presbyterian Austin for welcoming us into their space, and to Kevin for capturing these fantastic performance photos—as well as our favorite camp tradition: the joyful reunions when families greet their campers after the show and celebrate all they’ve accomplished.

Our Paramount Songwriting Workshop for Teens recently wrapped up with a showcase of original songs hosted by Griffin School, and we were blown away by the creativity and talent on display.
A huge thank you to workshop instructor Akina Adderley and assistant Matthew Nicholson for guiding these young songwriters through an unforgettable two weeks. We’re also grateful to our guest musicians—Carrie Rodriguez, Ruthie Foster, and Ray Prim—for sharing their talent, insight, and encouragement.

While the Paramount temporarily closes for renovations, Camp Paramount is hitting the road this summer. On Friday, June 19, campers brought their musical r***e, “Live at the Paramount!” to Jane Hill Hall at Trinity Episcopal School. Their Paramount-sized energy filled the room as they performed songs made famous by artists who have graced the stages of our historic theatres.

Check out photos from the first Camp Paramount performance of the summer!
On June 12, campers took the stage at the State Theatre for a musical r***e featuring songs made famous by artists who have performed at the Paramount throughout the years. The program spanned generations, from Cab Calloway, who graced the stage in 1934, to Leslie Odom Jr., who visited last year.
Campers also performed songs by two artists honored with stars on the Paramount Walk of Fame: Lyle Lovett and Ruthie Foster.

Camp Paramount is where stars are born, and yesterday a Texas star stopped by! 🤠
Our campers got quite the surprise when Texas legend Lyle Lovett paid a visit. After spending the week learning and performing “That’s Right (You’re Not From Texas),” the campers sang it for Lyle himself. Then came the best part: he sang it right back to them.
Lyle stuck around to share a few more songs, answer questions, and create a memory our campers (and staff) won’t forget. Thanks, Lyle!

Earlier this week, the Paramount Story Wranglers program received a Special Citation at the 2026 Austin Theatre Critics Awards. This is the short video that played before we accepted the award.
Thank you to the Austin Theatre Critics Awards and ATX Theatre for recognizing our work to uplift the voices of Austin youth—both through our classroom residencies and the original performances adapted from stories written by Austin third graders.
We’re also deeply grateful to the 83 contract teaching artists and ensemble members who worked with us during the 2025–26 school year. Your creativity, dedication, and talent make this work possible. “Adventure is... out there!”
