When someone asks an LLM who the leading voices in your industry are, it is pulling from what it can find and verify, including who has spoken where, who has been recognized, and who has been validated by credible third parties. Over time, those moments start to connect and form a clearer picture of authority.

By the time someone looks you up, there is already a clear picture of who you are and what you do through your posts, articles, and overall body of work. For a long time, publishing on your own channels was enough to build visibility. You could create strong content, share it consistently, and trust that it would do the work.

That is starting to change.

AI is not just looking at what you publish about yourself; it is looking for signals of credibility across the broader internet. Where your ideas show up, who is publishing them, and how often they appear in trusted sources all play a role in whether you are surfaced or skipped.

What we are seeing is a clear shift from solely owned content to also include earned presence. The brands and leaders who show up most in AI results are placing it in the right environments where it can be cited, referenced, and reinforced.

There is still a gap between where most teams are focused and where AI is actually pulling from, and that gap is where real opportunity lives.
