An early hand painted engobe wall plate in one of several 'Fische' decors designed in 1956

Although these Ruscha wall plates are painted to a pattern, no two are identical. All earlier ones, carry the artists initials. Ruscha used the humble 717 series wall plate right through to its demise in 1996. Ruscha designed a large variety of these wallplates, earlier pieces carry the name of the decor along with the artists initials, later pieces are not often signed.
