The Lion in a Changing Jungle: Global Geopolitics and its Impact on American Businesses https://mbcaustin.org/event-5824396
The past decade or two have been witness to some remarkable and dramatic shifts in global geopolitics. The American workforce is now navigating a vastly altered landscape. What exactly are these changes and how do they impact American organizations? How do professionals need to alter both thought and action to ensure sustained American supremacy and excellence? This talk is a deep dive into the new world order and the imperatives it yields. It examines the changes on the global level and tapers down specifically to Texas.

Member Engagement Day https://mbcaustin.org/event-5816097
Once a year or so, we take a moment to just enjoy each other (and maybe learn some fascinating facts about our fascinating members). Of course, there's still good food, hot coffee, and bacon, as well as the book club immediately after.
If you've been thinking about becoming a member, this might be just the nudge you need. But member or not, you'll enjoy the time.
Texas Gun Policy Panel, https://mbcaustin.org/event-5816062
Texas is known for its gun culture, but after a number of mass shootings and the fact that gun fatalities are the leading cause of death among children, many Texans are ready for gun policy that would make our state safer. We will have a panel discussion about current state law around gun ownership and how we might work towards safer communities. From safe storage, to training, to red flag laws, many bills have come to the Texas Legislature, but few have passed. What’s in store for next session, and what can we do to pass laws that a majority of Texans support?
About our speakers:
- State Representative Vikki Goodwin will moderate an all-star panel including
* State Representative Donna Howard
* Former Texas Land Commissioner & Former State Senator Hon. Jerry Patterson
* Austin gun store owner & plaintiff in Supreme Court bump stock case Michael Cargill
* Executive Director of Texas Gun Sense Nicole Golden
