It’s time to apply for the 2027 Austin Winter Music Festival (taking place Jan. 3-8, 2027).

As usual, the festival centers around l*l’s work with composers, but applications are also open to performers who would like to present their own sets as well! Do you want to write for l*l? Do you have a solo set or a group looking for a performance opportunity? Have you been wanting to try some new ideas and the AWMF is the perfect place for that? It’s almost time for Austin’s annual day of giving! We campaign during every year for the future of our group as a whole, but also for specific projects we have planned for the year. This year we’re raising funds for a new project called “Sounds of Texas” in which we will attempt to blur the lines between l*l as participants and our community as audience. We’ve spent a great couple of days working with and talking with and the LSU percussionists (sorry, forgot to take good photos, as usual) Now we’re taking the show on the road to New Orleans for a concert tonight!

We are at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine this weekend playing the music of Reich, Xenakis, and local-based composers and .goldford (recent Austin Winter Music Fest Alum)! Rehearsals and a class today — concert tomorrow!
