Austin Bulldog Rescue’s mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and find loving and knowledgeable families for rescued English Bulldogs. We rescue bulldogs from animal shelters, other rescue groups and from owners who can no longer properly care for their English Bulldog. Upon intake, we place each bulldog into a foster home that has been pre-approved and fully prepared to care for the specific needs of each bulldog. We provide and fund ALL health care needs for each bulldog while in our foster’s care…including medications, surgeries, vaccinations, preventatives, supplements and of course, spay and neuter. When healthy, happy and ready, each bulldog is matched with a pre-approved family and if all parties agree it is truly a perfect match, the bulldog is adopted into their furever home.
It was a shocking call and video for us to receive… Buffy had been discarded beside trash cans right here in Austin. 💔
She was found in heartbreaking condition, thrown out like trash, her body more broken than we could have anticipated.
Her finder couldn’t leave her there and desperately contacted us. How do we ignore this ask for help? We couldn’t just do nothing.
The problem is, it’s been nonstop, the neglect, the abuse, the suffering, and the disregard we have been trying to heal in dog after dog.
We are having hard conversations about what this will look like in the future because, at some point, we simply can’t keep saying yes. We can’t keep up financially or physically. But today, we HAD to try to help her in the best way we could.
That meant taking Buffy for immediate veterinary care, where we learned that she is in kidney failure and has infections in her bladder, ears, and eyes that are making her feel so, so sick. Her legs are deformed, and she has severe luxating patellas that make it difficult for her to walk. Her body is in a state of neglect that we can’t wrap our heads around.
So here we are… begging to find a hospice foster and once again trying to fundraise so we can give Buffy, and the other dogs like her, the proper care they deserve.

💔 Not a single foster has raised their hand for this beautiful girl.
And our hearts are breaking.
Yesterday, we received literally thousands of messages from people interested in Gordo, a solid white, blue-eyed dog of the very same breed. We updated more than 12 hours ago that Gordo is SAFE and secured, and we are STILL receiving emails by the hour from people wanting to help him.
Meanwhile, this sweet girl is still sitting in a kennel, waiting for just ONE person to see her.
She is VERY human-friendly, incredibly loving, and so far has been friendly and accepting of every dog she has met. She has given us absolutely no reason to believe she deserves anything less than the same chance.
For those of us who work so hard to save these dogs, it is heartbreaking when it feels like something as simple as appearance can determine who gets noticed and who gets overlooked....who gets to live. 💔
We know our community believes what we believe: every one of these dogs is worthy. ❤️
But right now, we desperately need someone to raise their hand for HER.

🕊️🩷 $5 FRIDAY IN MEMORY OF ZOE 🩷🕊️

Today’s $5 Friday is dedicated to such a special girl who started her story with Austin Bulldog Rescue and recently, heartbreakingly, passed away.
Zoe was picked up in Houston by one of our volunteers from it truly horrific situation and landed in what was supposed to be her foster home. Instead, she found her person, and her forever. And of course, forever is still not long enough. 💔
Her mom shared these words with us:
“I named her Zoe (means life in Greek) because she gave me so much life when I was struggling with depression. Her and I packed up our Austin life and we moved out to LA to live the fanciest life she deserved. Always dressed in hot pink as her signature look, she was immediately loved by everyone who met her.”
Zoe was rescued, but somewhere along the way, she rescued her Mom right back, as so many of us have experienced from our own precious pups... And what so many dogs who are waiting to be saved will give someone one day.
In her memory, an incredibly generous `$6,000 matching donation has been offered. Starting TODAY and running through Wednesday 9/30, every dollar donated will be matched, up to $6,000.
So on this $5 Friday, your 10. Your 50. And every one of those dollars gives another dog the chance Zoe had l to be rescued, to be deeply loved, and maybe even to change someone’s life in return.

Introducing Stetson 🤠❤️
You might remember him as Brick. The last time we shared him, he was so neglected and stuck in a situation he didn’t deserve. Now, after some much-needed TLC, he’s showing us who he really is.
And honestly? This boy is a HOOT.
Stetson is goofy, playful, obsessed with his toys, and has the kind of bulldog personality that makes you laugh just by watching him exist. He’s come a long way, and we’re so happy he gets to be this silly, happy boy now.
We can’t wait for you to meet Stetson. ❤️

This sweet girl has been waiting far too long, and we’re starting to feel like we have to beg for someone to notice her.

She deserves a family of her own. She deserves to wake up every day knowing she’s home. And we really, really want that for her.

Sydney has decided she needs to help with laundry. 🧺😂
Because apparently folding clothes is much more fun when you have a floppy little goober supervising every move. She’s just that kind of girl — if her people are doing something, she wants to be right there in the middle of it.
Sydney LOVES being around people and is happiest bouncing between her humans, demanding b***y scratches, and making everyone laugh with her goofy personality. She’s queen of the side eye, a professional couch potato, and has recently discovered that toys with hidden kibble are the greatest invention ever. 😂
She’s still learning her manners and settling in, but every day she’s showing her foster family just how much personality is packed into that silly face. She’s playful, affectionate, social, and genuinely just a complete goober. 🥹🐾
