Kimble P. Shared with us her wonderful mixed media painting! We asked our participants to use watercolor, acrylics and stencils to create a work of art. Great job Kim!!!

Hummingbird sightings! Our participants have been creating wonderful projects with hummingbird imagery. Mixed media painting with watercolor and acrylic on paper (by Ruth A.) and a beautiful apron with hummingbirds and butterflies (by Kimble P).

Here is another excerpt from our 2014 journal titled "Every Story Paints a Picture". Every resident received a copy of the publication.

Beverly D. shared this photo of her finished project (paint your own canvas pillow). Nice job! And we love the Hendrix photo.

The Maggie Johnson Nursing Center closed its doors in 2015. We made monthly visits to the center from 2008 to 2015 and became very close to the residents. In 2014 we enlisted volunteers to help capture the stories of the residents and published them in a journal titled "Every Story Paints a Picture". Every resident received a copy of the publication.

Many of our participants have never painted before therefore we provide gentle encouragement during our activities.

Missing our friends from Mike's Place where for many years we provided art projects for the participants from their Alzheimers respite program. Our instructors collaborated with the team to design projects related to the weekly theme.

past projects include making ceramic mosaic flower pots with our seniors: artistic and functional

During this time of COVID19 we send our best to those we cannot visit in person, such as Faye who lives in a local nursing facility (and sending a shout out to who made such an impact on the lives of our seniors).

Another version of Schiele’s Four Trees by Bessie. She captured the feel of four seasons and added a little bird (see if you can find him). ❤️

Missing our on site classes, and the wonderful people we were able to connect with such as these two ladies from the Maggie Johnson Nursing Center. Our founder, Theresa, is shown here after the end of a session in which the residents decorated zipper canvas pouches to hold personal belongings.

Throughout the years we have held numerous exhibits across Austin to showcase our talented artists. This photo was taken at the Bass Concert Hall located on the Univ. of Texas campus.

Our goal is not to just create art, it is to build community and self-esteem. Having exhibits throughout the year to showcase the talents of our participants - such as this group from Stonebriar - not only encourages them to pursue a creative outlet, it shows the community at large that our seniors are creative and productive.

Kimble, from our Healthy Connections program, scared a photo of her wonderful watercolor landscape. It’s a beautiful painting!

Kimble, one of our talented artists from the Healthy Connections workshops, shared her completed watercolor painting with us. Absolutely beautiful!!!

More photos from our 2013 mural project with the seniors from St. John's Community Center.
