Stoke Custom Wheels
Hand Built Custom Bicycle Wheels Made to Last. Assembled in Austin, TX “As a wheelbuilder, I started out of necessity.
At the bike shop I worked, wheelbuilding was the one ticket nobody wanted to grab. Being the newest mechanic, I saw the void and quickly learned the trade. I studied Jobst Brandt’s “The Bicycle Wheel” and started building wheels for myself and my friends. Fast forward a few months later in a conversation with my grandmother where she told me about my great grandfather, who was also a wheel builder

Are rim brake wheels dead?
There’s some nostalgia for the simplicity of rim brake wheels. They’re lightweight, more symmetric, and radial spoke patterns just look good 😎 This custom build with some NOS SES 5.6 rims and crazy light straight pull 180 hubs.

🐍 🐍 Over the past few weeks I’ve been demoing Triad carbon rims on my Sendero. They’ve proven to be vertically compliant in all the right ways, offering fantastic traction over the jagged south Austin trails. They’re light enough to be fun and have a really strong impact-resistant bead
Best of all, they build up incredibly well. The alternating angled profile of the rim creates straight spoke lines, eliminating a weak point and distributing spoke tension more evenly.

Hello from Stoke 👋🏼 we’re a custom wheel building service dedicated to crafting high-quality, dependable wheels that are personally tuned for each rider. With years of experience building bombproof wheels for bikes, we wanted to branch out to offer custom builds for all types of riders. Specializing in road, gravel, MTB, and dynamo builds, our wheels are built to the highest wheelbuilding standards using quality components. The coincidence seemed too serendipitous to pass up.
The name comes from my Great Grandfather, William Stokes. I never met him, but years after I started working as a bicycle mechanic I learned that he was a bicycle racer and wheel builder back when rims were made of wood.
Lots of exciting builds to come. For now, check out some custom build deals we have on hubs in the last pic, and reach out to plan something custom.
