Every person who walks through our doors carries a different story, but they all have one thing in common: they are all welcome here. At Sunrise, we meet people where they are and walk alongside them toward something better. Whether that's finding permanent housing, enrolling in benefits, or even getting set up with a laptop to keep up with today's world, we want our clients to know they're not alone. Home is closer than you think.

Not even 6 months into 2026, Sunrise’s Wayfinder Rehousing program has already rehoused over 700 people on one program alone! Unlike most housing programs in Austin that prioritize getting single adults onto waitlists, Wayfinder prioritizes families with kids and moving people in quickly - sometimes even the same day. Because hundreds of families in Central Texas are experiencing homelessness, because the longer someone is homeless the more expensive they are to house and because housing 3 people for the price of one is a good deal every time!
Join us in congratulating the Reyes family on their new digs!

After facing hardship and adversity for so long, Alexandra now works and lives in a three-bedroom apartment with her family and two dogs. It took a lot of bravery to get here. She came to Sunrise carrying the weight of domestic abuse and trauma. For many survivors, the road to stability feels overwhelming, challenging, and lonely. But Sunrise is built to provide support every step of the way.
Alexandra rebuilt her life on her own terms by finding her own employment, staying engaged with Sunrise's services, securing permanent housing, and working steadily toward reunification with her children. She never stopped showing up for herself and her family. Her story reflects her resilience, determination, and commitment to creating a safe and stable future for her children. Welcome home, Alexandra!!
To anyone in the middle of that process, there is always someone to help. Call 512-522-1097 to reach the Sunrise hotline.

Not all of us were raised on computers. For many of Sunrise’s clients, the quick shift to a digitized workforce leaves them farther behind, scared to ask for help or without the tools they need to succeed.
Thanks to our partnership with Methodist Healthcare Ministries, Sunrise’s Hub includes a full computer lab daily, along with multiple coaches to help them navigate web-based solutions, apply for benefits and reconnect with family. Regular digital literacy and resume-building classes also help our clients level the playing field. Digital tools like refurbished tablets and laptops help them hit the ground running.
This is how you exit homelessness in the digital age.

In a period of instability, Sandra never lost her home. That's what Sunrise is here to help with. After unexpectedly losing her job in February of 2026, Sandra feared what it meant for her career, finances, and keeping a roof over her head. She filed for unemployment, but as anyone who has been through that process knows, it doesn't move quickly.
That's when Sunrise came in with urgency, compassion, and rental assistance for Sandra for March, April, and May. This support gave her the ability to focus on pursuing unemployment wages and rebuilding her financial footing. Sandra could stay afloat without the trauma of losing her home. Preventing crisis is just as powerful as recovering from one.

Thomas rebuilt his life with Sunrise’s help after being homeless for four years. He has not only maintained employment, but saved enough money to purchase his own car and now travels throughout Texas for work.
Thomas’ journey to housing started at Sunrise’s Navigation Center, where he enrolled in medical insurance and got consistent healthcare checkups through a community partner. He used the computer lab to update his resume, work on his job readiness skills, and apply for jobs. Thomas was able to pick up his mail with us and have an address for his applications. He worked closely with Sunrise to secure housing and the stability needed to focus on his future.
Sunrise walks alongside people through every challenge, but it’s clients like Thomas who do the real work of building their own way forward. We just made sure he didn’t have to do it alone.

Tours. We give them to individuals and groups almost every day at Sunrise. This one happens to include two judges and lots of community leaders. We get it: homelessness is complex, challenging, messy and incredibly difficult to wrap your head around. Especially from a distance.
So we welcome schools, public officials, libraries, other cities, churches, partner organizations, regular citizens and even people who don’t like us all that much to visit. Meet people, see our methods, view our successes, feel our struggles, learn from us and do it better. The journey to solutions in homelessness can never be fully assembled in an ivory tower, office or from behind a computer - it needs to be seen, felt and experienced. Book your tour today. Wilfredo and Rebecca have the keys to their own home! 🔑🏠 From getting services at Sunrise, finding their own employment, and receiving deposit assistance from the Wayfinder Program, these two put in the work to make their dream of home become a reality. This is more than four walls. It's a place to celebrate with grandkids, cook meals, make new memories, and a physical symbol of how far they've come. Welcome home, Wilfredo and Rebecca! 🎉 We can't wait to see what you'll accomplish next.

One call to Sunrise can turn uncertainty into an address. Monica got an apartment of her own with the help of Sunrise within 70 days of living in Texas. She called 2-1-1 and learned about our services. A Wayfinder Specialist provided a check for her the day after she called the Sunrise Hotline!
When every door seems closed, Sunrise opens a new one with innovative programs like Wayfinder. “Home means to me, stability and comfort. Having a place of my own that is mine. I can pay my bills and my family in Florida can come visit me. That means a lot to me.”
Monica’s message is simple: everyone deserves a chance to recover who they were before losing everything. She wants to remind anyone in her former position that there is always someone to help.
“I didn’t think I could get back on my feet. I want to thank texas and sunrise for getting me here.”
