June is National Safety Month, a national observance going on 30 years focused on building stronger safety cultures across industries.
The first week's theme is Moving Safety Forward. For Mike Slack, a former NASA engineer turned aviation attorney, that idea has defined three decades of work. Every crash carries a question. The job is to keep asking it until the answer makes the next flight safer.

Some aviation cases come down to a flaw most people would never think to look for.
When a Beech King Air 350i crashed seconds after takeoff from Addison Airport near Dallas in 2019, Slack Davis served as lead counsel for the passenger families.
The case centered on a known issue involving the aircraft’s left power lever. During takeoff, the lever could unexpectedly move toward idle, reducing engine power at a critical moment and leaving pilots only seconds to respond.
Our team developed four alternative designs that would have potentially prevented the failure.
Understanding the aircraft itself often makes the difference in complex aviation cases.

When the case is complex, the right credentials matter.
Mike Slack is one of a select few attorneys in Texas board-certified in Aviation Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is also a licensed pilot and former NASA aerospace engineer.
For over three decades, Slack Davis has handled the cases other firms can't.
When people come to us, it’s often during one of the most difficult times in their lives.
We take that responsibility seriously, every case, every client.
That’s the standard we hold ourselves to.
Most passengers don't realize this: if you're hurt on an international flight, a federal treaty changes everything.
Under the Montreal Convention (MC 1999), the airline has to prove they weren't at fault. You don't have to prove they were.
This covers turbulence injuries, hot beverage burns, falling luggage, food cart incidents, jet bridge falls, broken seats, and more.
And here's the part most people miss: it still applies on the domestic leg of an international trip. London to Dallas to Austin and hurt on the Dallas-Austin leg? Still covered.
You have two years from the date of arrival to file a claim. Most passengers accept whatever the airline offers because they don't know any of this.
If you were hurt on an international flight, message us today. Slack Davis has handled these cases for decades.
