Will Mouthwash Like Listerine, Scope, or Peridex Kill Coronavirus or Covid-19?

The answer is NO. At this point, there is no evidence that mouthwashes protect you from Coronavirus.

However, it appears from a recent study, that 1% hydrogen peroxide will reduce the salivary load of the coronavirus. The American Dental Association is recommending dentists have patients rinse with 1% hydrogen peroxide for 1 minute before starting any dental procedure. It is sold usually as 3% hydrogen peroxide and can be diluted by adding water.

Thus at home it's advisable to disinfect your toothbrush with hydrogen peroxide; even soak your mouthguard and retainers in it for 5-10 minutes. You can even rinse your mouth with 1% hydrogen peroxide for 60 seconds.

Stay safe. Stay healthy !

There is lots to be thankful for, even now. Advanced Smile center is still accepting emergencies. If you’re in need of help, just give us a call. We’ll make your day brighter.

When do I know if I have fever?

Fevers are defined as any body temperature above 98.6 degrees.

In medical field 97-100 degree is the acceptable range , Tylenol/Acetaminophen is recommended for temperature above 101. Some physicians prefer to give medication once at 100.5 degree.

Stay home and stay safe.

Stay informed. Stay healthy. We are limiting our office to emergency appointments only at this time. Please use our website contact form or simply call us if you have a dental emergency.

Do you know what does COVIT-19 stands for?

In COVID-19, 'CO' stands for 'corona,' 'VI' for 'virus,' and 'D' for disease. Formerly, this disease was referred to as “2019 novel coronavirus” or “2019-nCoV”. There are many types of human coronaviruses including some that commonly cause mild upper-respiratory tract illnesses.

To Our Patients and Their Families,

At Advanced Smile Center our number one priority has always been the health and safety of our patients. Often in times of uncertainty, there can be a wealth of misinformation spread, especially in today’s digital age. As a leading healthcare authority in our community, we wanted to reach out to all of our patients regarding the COVID-19 virus, and to let you know the steps we are taking to alleviate any potential concerns.

According to the latest reports from the CDC and other national healthcare providers, the current health risks are minimal for most age groups. We recommend all of our patients to wash their hands frequently, avoid close contact with people who are sick, and stay home if you aren’t feeling well.

At Advanced Smile center we follow strict cleaning policies for the protection of both our staff and our patients. Each staff member maintains rigorous personal hygiene standards as well as using new gloves and face masks for every patient interaction. We use hospital-grade disinfectants across the entire office, with extensive room cleaning after each patient to ensure a safe and clean environment. After each use, all dental instruments receive the highest level of medical sterilization available. These processes have always been of utmost importance in our office and will continue to be the standards we uphold for our community.

Please rest assured that we are following local and national updates daily, and will continue to maintain the highest level of safety and patient care that you have come to expect. If you have any questions regarding your future appointments, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We will be posting additional updates through Facebook and Instagram to keep our community and patients abreast of the latest updates regarding the current health situation.

Again, thank you for being a valued patient with our office. We appreciate your continued trust and confidence. Together we can overcome these challenging circumstances and continue your path to greater health! We look forward to taking care of you at your next scheduled appointment.

There is always something for which to be Thankful🙏

Please don't put your baby to bed with bottle in their mouth. Tooth decay in infants and very young children is often referred to as baby bottle tooth decay or Early Childhood Caries. Baby bottle tooth decay happens when sweetened liquids or those with natural sugars (like milk, formula, and fruit juice) cling to an infant's teeth for a long time. AMSTERDAM — Patients with migraine, especially chronic migraine, are at increased risk for sleep disturbances, including sleep apnea (SA), a new study suggests.
About 37% of patients with migraine responding to a survey were deemed to be at high risk for SA, which is much higher than estimates in the general population.
And because over 75% of migraine respondents with SA were diagnosed by a physician, "it may be worthwhile to start asking our patients about this," said Dawn C. Buse, PhD, a licensed clinical psychologist and associate professor, Department of Neurology, Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University, New York City.
"We haven’t tested this yet, but the hope is that if sleep apnea is associated with more frequent headaches, treating sleep apnea might benefit headache."
