After nearly 25 years of service, Austin Stables on Fitzhugh Rd. was closed and the property sold in 2022. The property had new, non-horse related ownership. If someone is trying to sell you a horse and saying it’s at Austin Stables, it is a SCAM. Please beware. THEY WANT TO CHEAT YOU. Don’t ever send money to a person who wants you to hold a horse they advertise. Wishing you all the best.

We’ve retired, closed our place, and moved to Cedar Creek, TX. Thanks to all who touched our lives during those lovely 25 years at Austin Stables. I could not have done it w/o many amazing assistants and helpers, Orvin & Maynor Leiva and others were the reason we could stay in business. I will be forever grateful they worked so hard to keep things running. So many good people… Sue De Laurentis, Marcy Lowrey, all my customers turned friends, and vendors who busted their butts to keep us going. It was my pleasure to provide the best care we could to each horse and their owner. I genuinely loved each one. It was truly fulfilling work to have done in this world, and I hope we have inspired a few along the way to own a horse, buy some property, or just to do whatever your dream is… like Chipp said when we bought it March 1998, “If we don’t like it, we can sell it in a year and move back to town.”🤣 I miss it, yes. But onward to new adventures! Thanks for the great memories! Don’t forget I’m still here and will always willingly help you if I can with horse stuff. Be kind, be generous— it costs nothing & pays back tenfold. Happy trails!❤️

We lost one of the greatest horses of my time running Austin Stables… Charley Horse and his owners Karen Wendler & Gary Nubaum came here 21 years go. They have been a pillar of our little horse community here for the past two decades. Charley was 35. We love you, Charley!❤️

We have closed our doors and sold our property. Thank you so much all who trusted us with your horses!

Time to sell the ranch (Austin Stables) and retire. We will miss our great neighbors, our boarders, and their horses so much. But it’s great opportunity to buy in the booming Fitzhugh Corridor. So sad to goodbye to my old friend, Willie, “A Chic Can Dream” by Magnum Chic Dream. He passed last Friday. No horse was more cheerful and charming, talented and brilliant. He used to stand all night in front of a stall when a new boarder came to Austin Stables. As if to say, “You’re in good hands buddy, my mom owns this place and Maynor Leiva loves all of us without hesitation.”
We will see you in the grassy fields of heaven, my friend. Thank you for two decade of joy you gave me and everyone who knew you. ❤️❤️❤️
