A couple months ago I went on a little weekend trip with my middle sister, Melissa. She agreed to sit for a portrait - shot on 35mm Ilford HP5 Plus.

My friend Bridget is a badass q***r YA novel writer. We had a great time making sure they have plenty of images ready for upcoming promos and workshops!

This project, began July 2016, is an ongoing inquiry into a visual representation of the sensation of fear in the body. My intention with this work is to bring freedom and liberation from fear as we understand the feelings of fear to be a universal and natural experience. Quiet moments with Kat - a rewarding and beautiful shoot together a few weeks ago.

Who doesn't need a dapper angel in a suit? This lens flare can't be coincidental.

Creating an existing light portrait in the golden hours of the Pacific Northwest is so easy, it always feels like I'm cheating. Everywhere I turn, there's another beautiful hint of light, a little fairy beam shining over a rock wall, a soft cloud providing just the right amount of diffusion. Working in Texas for most of the year, where finding the right light is an argument with nature 85% of the time, this yearly respite to the giving and gentle light of the northwest helps me to breath easier, look at my work carefully, find joy in the moment. This light is the perfect light in which to shoot my friend CJ, as it echoes the friendship we share - easy, gentle, soft, caring, comfortable. I hope you all enjoy the badassery of CJ as much as I do.

I met this beautiful person as a teenager, and recently reconnect with them as an adult. They're still the generous and gentle soul that I remember.
