I had the honor of speaking at UC Santa Barbara Communication Career Day and moderating a panel with Frank Lee Snapchat and Kendra Jackson Fox Sports.

Hundreds of bright and curious students and 60+ incredible alumni filled the Thunderdome to give back, share honestly, and connect.

The Theme-One Major, Many Plays, Infinite Outcomes

These students are just starting thier college and career journeys, but for many of us this theme can also apply to our journeys. There isn’t one path to success. Loved hearing all the alumni’s stories.

Ever since I was little I wanted to be a TV news anchor and reporter, growing up in the suburbs of Los Angeles I would gather around the TV to watch the evening news, who knew one day I would be, but it wasn’t a straight patth.

Instead of going into journalism first, I interned in advertising, even worked a bit in PR, I loved media and entertainment so I spent my early years as an assistant in Hollywood at Paramount Pictures, but after a few years I realized if I didn’t go for it now, I never would so I moved to small TV markets and worked my way back to Los Angeles and then combined all my life experiences to build my company and help people own their voice and power-whether it’s thorugh coaching, speaking or writing.

All the pieces of my life coming together like a beautiful mosaic.

Like I told the students.

“The future may feel at bit overwhelming right now with AI and ever changing world, but it is also a transformative time filled with so many opportunities. We have stay curious, and continue to focus, connect and adapt. We have the power to create the future and no matter what happens, I believe the most important skills we all need right now and in the future is the ablility to communicate and connect.”

The biggest gift we can share with the next generation is not a perfect roadmap, (and these days we don’t really have one-we are all learning), but the belief and the freedom to create thier own.

What has your path been?

I kind of squealed!
I walked into
Not for an event, not for a signing…
But as a customer.

It called to me as I was cruising down the 101 on a nostalgic roadtrip headed back home from speaking at my alma mater UCSB.
You can feel the magic-the peaceful, yet powerful energy as soon as you walk through the door.

The words ‘Godmothers who lit our way” on the wall surrounded by beautiful photos of icons, role models, elders who have paved the way with thier words, their wisdom and their courage.
I explored the shelves for new reads.. and then I saw it!

The Power Of The Only…on the shelf.

What a surprise!
A surprise because just because you publish a book, there’s no guarantee a store will carry it.
I could have called ahead to check, but in this season I’m not feeling the “push” energy and trying to cultivate more of the “being” energy and the unexpected joy that comes with it.
I love what and have created.
I’m honored be a part of the thinkers, dreamers, storytellers who fill the shelves.

I left with a smile on face, my heart full and a quiet fufillment that perfectly captures the author journey and those in the pursuit of creating and cultivating the beauty and the change we want to see in the world.

If you’re in the Montecito/Summerland area, grab a signed copy and take a break and let the beauty of the words and stories at the store nurture you.

Back from SXSW! My body is tired, but my brain is nourished and my vision bigger than ever. Our future holds so much possiblity and yet we are facing some real challenges, and it’s not just about AI, So many forces converging at once. What happens next and what can we do? More insights to come,

But my big takeaway for now-put yourself in rooms, conversations, environments different than what you are used to, be curious and be open to learning everywhere.

We have access to so much information, but do we have focus, wisdom, discernment. I spent the week at different events and having deep conversations-some private curated meet-ups others impromptu with my Lyft driver or the person in line at an event or sitting next to me eating a taco, that is the magic of and the skill I believe will bring more magic to our everyday lives. I spent time with collective, -obvious, Investors, excutive leaders quotient, asian, keynote speakers, authors, futurists, entreprenuers, astronauts. That is how you by first stepping out of your Only. ill share more in my upcoming newsletter.

Conferences are great.
But the real magic?
The conversations.

I’m mapping out my SXSW schedule this week and remembering that as I look at the days ahead.

SXSW can be overwhelming:
Thousands of people.
Hundreds of events.
Conversations happening everywhere in Austin.

After doing this a few times, here’s what helps me navigate it (and honestly, this works for any conference):

✨ Let go of FOMO
You don’t need to go to everything. Choose the conversations that matter. Be fully present and curious.

✨ Organize your schedule
Keep events, addresses, and links in one place.

✨ Look beyond official programming
Some of the best gatherings happen around the conference.

✨ Leave space between events
The magic often happens in the in-between moments.

✨ Capture the connection
I take a quick photo of people I meet so I remember to follow up.

✨ Protect your energy
Even if you love people, build in time to recharge.

✨ Know your intention
Who do you want to learn from? What conversations matter most?

✨ Follow up
The real value isn’t just who you meet — it’s the relationships you continue.

Last year I only popped in for two days.
This year I’m excited to slow down and have deeper conversations.

If you’re at SXSW, come say hello.
And if not, I’ll share a few insights along the way.

💬 What’s your best conference tip?

AI is changing how we work faster than most leaders can process.
Which is why conversations about voice, leadership, and humanity matter more than ever.
I’m excited to be part of one of those conversations at the The Female Quotient Lounge during .
On this International Women’s Day, I also want to celebrate Shelley Zalis. Shelley has created an incredible global community that brings powerful people together and sparks the kinds of conversations that move ideas and industries forward.
I’ve had the joy of featuring Shelley on my podcast and including her insights in my book, The Power of The Only. Her work continues to open doors and create space for bold voices.
I’m honored to be moderating this panel:
AI at Work: The New Operating System
 Female Quotient Lounge
🗓 Sunday, March 15 | 9:30 AM
As AI reshapes how we work, one thing is becoming even clearer:
Your voice, perspective, and presence matter more than ever.
That’s what my work is about- helping leaders communicate to connect and thrive in any environment.
I’m also excited that The Power of The Only will be featured at the Lounge bookstore, so if you’re there, stop by and grab a complimentary copy while they last.
If you’re at SXSW, come say hello. I’ll be sharing more events and conversations... More to come……

I almost didn’t post for International Women’s Day.
Because honestly…
Women shouldn’t need a special day to be celebrated.
We should be recognizing women’s leadership, ideas, and impact every day. And Women’s history…should just be history.
But we’re still not fully there.
There are so many amazing women I want to celebrate, but today I want to highlight the connectors.
This year’s theme, , resonates deeply with me.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of being in many of these rooms and communities-learning from extraordinary women, connecting across communities and seeing the collective impact.

Real leadership isn’t just about rising.
It’s about bringing others with you.
I’m grateful for the women behind communities like:

✨ The Authentic Asian
✨ WNorth
✨ Thought Leadership Collective .kem
✨ The Female Quotient
✨ MAKERS

This is the true
When people own their voice and use it to elevate others, something extraordinary happens.
When we give, we gain.
Happy International Women’s Day.
💬 Who is a woman or community builder that has lifted you up?
Tag them so we can celebrate them.

Excited to be back at this week.
Last year I launched my book The Power of The Only here. It was a whirlwind—speaking, conversations, book signings, and running from one thing to the next. Only had a short time before flying out to emcee an event.
This year I’m looking forward to something different.
More time for real conversations.
More space to connect.
More of the unexpected moments that make SXSW special.
I’m also honored that The Power of The Only will be featured at The Innovation Clubhouse as part of the Non-Obvious 7-Minute Book Giveaway, alongside some incredible authors including and the audacious Marie Anderson (who was my speaking partner last year!) and more.
Come join us.
Last year was about launching the book.
This year I want to be more present for the people and ideas shaping what’s next.
I’ll share my SXSW schedule soon—but in the meantime:
Where should I be?
And who else is here this week?
Would love to connect.

It started as a trip home. Then the snow came down fast.

This week in Lake Tahoe, whiteout conditions shut down the highways to Reno and Sacramento, leaving hundreds of travelers myself included suddenly trying to pivot in real time.

While waiting it out, I met a Weather Channel National Correspondent . Watching him work brought me back to my reporter years covering everything from wildfires, storms, and mudslides when the job wasn’t about clicks or attention, but about service, safety, and keeping communities informed hour by hour. So appreciate his updates and work.

That perspective is why I have so much respect for the people doing this work.

But what stayed with me most wasn’t just the weather.
It was the people.

Hotel teams calmly supporting waves of stranded travelers.
Caltrans crews and first responders working long hours so others could get home safely.

Moments like this remind me that believing in your work matters.
Duty isn’t loud, it’s steady.
And community shows up when we need it most.

Grateful to be home safe tonight and deeply thankful for the people who keep our communities informed and protected. Stay safe!❤️
