Arriving with a seductively deep sound created for both the dancefloor and your headphones, Always Friends is the newest project from the Austin-based DJ and music producer, Brad Eller. Using Always Friends as a springboard for a more melodic and dubby sound, his moving compositions are rooted in originality, devoid of samples or external contributors.
When Mike Tyson was asked by a reporter whether he was worried about Evander Holyfield and his fight plan, he answered, “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.” But Always Friends’ release this month isn’t so much about fighting as it is about being prepared. So get ready to go a few rounds with his new one-two knockout.
“Fighting Stance” starts off with classic dance piano chords and a driving drum pattern, quickly accompanied by a dotted 8th-note bassline. Then halftime breaks drop in here and there to keep things interesting. “Canelo Drill” gets its name from a high-intensity boxing exercise, and the tune lives up to the title. Shimmery synth arps, rhythmic white noise, and a massive sustained bassline combine to make this one an energetic musical workout.

New Year, new headshot! In 2025, I released two tracks every month as Always Friends. The vast majority of my listeners are on various streaming platforms and I’ve built up a loyal following. Having people all over the world enjoy my music is very rewarding- thank you for all your comments, supports, and playlist adds!
Sometime last year my BPMs got too fast for house and I started making 140 - 150 breaks. It was liberating to move on from the four-on-the-floor groove I’ve focused on for so many years. Gradually my tempos kept increasing and now I’m exploring the deeper side of drum’n’bass. Whatever you call it, It’s still my sound.
My music project with Lisa, Glass Slipper, is still alive and we collaborate remotely or in-person whenever possible. I’m sure we’ll have some killer tunes for y’all this coming year.
To all my musicians, producers, and DJs out there I wish you an inspired, creative, and rewarding 2026! Peace, love, and hair grease.

For his last release of 2025, Always Friends delivers a darker, moodier 2-tracker to complement your holiday malaise. “Duloxetine” is reminiscent of late 90’s atmospheric drum’n’bass with swirling pads, arpeggiated plucks, and plenty of haze in the mix. Unlike those old tunes, the bassline has a modern, punchy growl and the overall production is super clean and breakbeat-free.
“Quetiapine” is steady and balancing like the drug it’s named after. Lush vox pads and shimmering synth runs are anchored by a simple bassline and punctuated with copious snare rolls. Take your meds and have a Merry Christmas!
Put your mouth guard in, get in your fighting stance, and prepare for Always Friends’ big one-two combo comin’ at your dome this month!
“Yeaaah” is an intense, focused, and confident roller with a funky bassline, uplifting top line, and intricate drum programming. Those aren’t Splice drums- Always Friends might’ve switched genres, but his productions are still loop-free.
For your post-workout, Woaaah is like a warm bath of vibes and bass. The delay sends get thrown on tape stop effects, vocal hooks, and just about everything else in the mix. File under dubbed out breakbeat jams.
The Type A -vs- Type B personality theory describes two broad patterns of behavior, originally developed in the 1950s. In the context of this month’s release, Type A is a speedy, rhythmically complex roller that projects ambition and energy. On the flip, Type B slows things down with a pulsating bassline, chaotic tops, and a quirky synth lead. No matter what your personality, this record has something to fit your temperament.
