“As a Digital Archives intern at Lottozero, I’ve been able to explore all kinds of textile samples from over the years, helping to care for fabrics from preparation through construction and surface manipulation. In doing so, I’ve learned so much about the “in-between” processes of a finished piece. For example, while exploring the wool showroom tools, I got to examine a felted dress that beautifully blends art and fashion. During a workshop, we hammered flowers onto muslin to watch the dye transfer, and I even got to experiment with screenprinting using natural dyes—learning how different chemicals and pH levels change the results. Finally, touring a local yarn mill and a printing mill gave me a front-row seat to the very beginning of the production process for major fabric suppliers.”

“During my first three weeks at NTT I have been assisting with sustainability assessment activities, textile sorting, and recycling research. Assisting with reports and deliverables I have really strengthened my critical thinking, writing, and time management skills. I have also been learning a lot about European Union regulations that influence and promote sustainable activities specifically in the textile sector. One of the biggest challenges has been diving into the engineering side of systems, which I was not very familiar with. I am really enjoying my time here and look forward to keep growing during my remaining weeks to this amazing team!”
