Frozen Treats to stay cool in Austin this Summer! ☀️🍦[Updated for 2026]
There’s no shortage of frozen treats in Austin, so we’re rounding up the best-of-the-best right here. From classic spots to new hits… you’ll want to try each of these local spots.
- This new shave ice truck will be reopening for summer again very soon. It’s traditional Hawaiian-style shave ice with homemade fruit syrups!
- OMG Squee is located in East Austin and known for their Asian taiyaki soft serve. They were featured on the hit show Q***r Eye in 2021.
- First opened in Austin in 1984, most famous for their Mexican Vanilla flavored ice cream. They’ll also do a challenge where if you catch your scoop, you get a free scoop certificate for your next visit.
- Delicious ice cream with real ingredients & no artificial flavors. Serving Austin since 2011. Go try their highly requested Cookies N Cream flavor which debuted this Spring!
atx - Their vegan, dairy-free ice cream uses fresh, seasonal fruits. We loved the Cookie Monster flavor!
Sandy’s - the OG frozen treat for Austinites is easily Sandy’s Chocolate Dipped Cone. Still hits the spot every time. Located on Barton Springs Rd.
- The New Zealand inspired, real fruit ice cream at Zed’s has been the biggest craze to hit Austin … and it’s worth the hype. They’ve added new locations expanding from their original East Austin outpost into Tarrytown & Westlake. 🍧
- I recently discovered the sweet cream gelato soft serve at All Day Pizza and it altered my brain chemistry 🧠 🤯 top it with fudge & pretzels 🥨
- Another Classic Austin spot that’s been keeping Austin cool since 1996. The perfect stop for snowcones in every flavor!

Lakeside Restaurants to try Near Austin this Summer 🍔
If you live in Austin, you know there’s no shortage of lakes and you can enjoy the views with (or without) a boat at these 5 waterfront restaurants. ☀️
on Lake Austin - First opened in 1954, a casual restaurant with burgers, tacos & more. You can park your boat at their dock while you eat!
on Lady Bird Lake- Inside The Loren Hotel this option is the closest to downtown and known for serving upscale food like oysters, steaks & champagne!
on Lake Austin - will always be a classic and one of the OG spots to dine on the lake. Try the Thai Fajitas. Boat parking is also available here.
on Lake Travis - a casual lake hangout with a delicious menu including fish tacos, burgers, sandwiches & more. Stay for the live music!
on Lake LBJ - venture a little further out & try Bay View which has elevated dining with incredible lakeside views.
