A lifeguard jumped into action to save a driver who reportedly drove his Tesla into a public pool in Connecticut while attempting to park the vehicle.

Mike D'urso told the local news there that he was setting up umbrellas with his co-workers at the public pool they worked at when "all of a sudden we hear this loud crash."

"We turned around, and there's just a Tesla sitting in the middle of our pool," D'urso said. "I'm just thinking, this has got to be some type of training exercise or something."

D'urso said he jumped into the pool, with officers from the New Canaan Police Department joining him in the water soon after. The lifeguard said the driver was still conscious when he found him, and the only major concern was removing him from the water before the vehicle sunk enough to submerge his head.

The group of rescuers broke one of the Tesla's windows and removed the driver.

"I've never seen anything like this here in the town," said John Howe, director of New Canaan Parks and Rec. "A lot of little things, but this definitely takes the cake."
