The Bear is thrilled to welcome our new Executive Producer, Elizabeth Spiva!

Elizabeth is a beloved member of Austin’s production community, and her ability to command the nuts and bolts of production while also imbuing every project with a sense of calm makes her a natural fit at The Bear. We can’t be happier to have her in the Bear cave.

Elizabeth’s production journey began in 1997, when she stumbled into a role as a TV news producer, after originally pursuing a journalism career. But the move couldn’t have worked out better. From there, her interest in production and film grew into a full-blown passion, and she’s been working to bring creative projects to life ever since. She has traveled the world producing award-winning ads for brands like Mars, Anheuser-Busch, AT&T, Kimberly-Clark, Target, Chevy, and Walgreens. In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys volunteering, traveling, and tending to her rapidly expanding plant collection.

She joins The Bear team after spending nearly 15 years as a freelance producer, working in all facets of production from agency to line-producing to post. Her deep roots in the Austin film and advertising communities and passion for developing new directing talent, will lead The Bear in what we are calling the roaring 20s.

Feel free to give Elizabeth a shout to talk about travel ideas, a reading list, or a favorite recipe - and of course, any of your future production needs!

Tootsie turned 87 on April 21 and as a belated birthday gift, we're posting some BTS photos from our Yeti shoot. The first images are from when we surprised her at Giddings High School, where she's the custodian, by screening the short doc in front of the whole school. Afterwards she got a standing ovation and burst into tears. Here's to you Ms Tootsie, the hardest working 87 year old we know.

If you live in Austin, Nick Simonite's work is everywhere. It's become a part of the fabric of the city. From portraits to landscapes, and over aerial & automotive. His images of modern Texans are legendary in their ability to make the old seem new and vice versa. Plus, he's one of our favorite people to work with for his calm, kind demeanor and sharp shooting. Here's to you, Nick Simonite!
