Balance difficulties can affect people of any age, however, falls in people 65 or older hold strong statistics. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in four Americans over the age of 65 fall each year, every 11 seconds an older adult is treated in the ER for a fall, and every 19 minutes an older adult dies from a fall. Falls are the leading cause of fatal injury and the most common cause of non-fatal trauma-related hospital admissions among older adults. My review of the science, as well as reviews by health professionals and scientists who have much more expertise, has led me to conclude that you should get the vaccine.
