The Don’t DOGE Our Austin Coalition has made the decision to cancel our launch rally today at City Hall at noon. We will be in touch at a later date with next steps for our coalition in the fight against Prop I. Thank you for your willingness to stand with us. We must stand together now against ICE and in support of our community. Our union and the Austin labor community unequivocally stand in solidarity with our immigrant neighbors. We condemn these lawless actions in our City, our state, and across the country and demand justice for the people and the families that have been affected.

Join our friends tonight at 6pm VOCAL-TX and littlesisgram for a special town hall event - Exposing Austin’s Billionaire Backers of Hate. We’ll put a spotlight on some of the country’s richest and most powerful billionaires that have made Austin their home. They’re harming Austin and the lives of people across Texas. At this town hall, we’ll hear from our partners at Vocal-TX and LittleSis on new research published about Austin’s billionaires and impacts on our community. We’ll also hear directly from residents impacted by billionaire-backed policies, and have a discussion with elected officials about what we can do locally to defend our community. We hope to see y’all there!

Throughout the week, members of AFSCME1624 and AFSCMELocal2021 have been at AFSCME ’s 47th International Convention in Chicago, representing thousands of public-sector workers from Central Texas as AFSCME union members from around the nation gathered to determine the future of this labor movement. The Central Texas delegation helped to form and amend crucial resolutions, networked with union leaders from different backgrounds, and even energized a rally to help the workers of Shedd Workers United secure a fair contract. The Green Machine keeps chugging along! 💚
