Columbus is a city of hidden gems, and we watched in awe as another delight came to life just across the street from Viewpoint Books. It’s the perfect vibrant background for this week’s equally exciting new releases.

We’ve got SIGNED copies rolling in … always a great choice for gift-giving!
• For fiction lovers, consider bestselling author Mitch Albom’s “The Stranger in the Lifeboat,” which ponders what shipwreck survivors might do if God appeared to them.
• Young adult fantasy readers will delight in new releases from two bestselling authors: Marissa Meyer’s “Gilded,” a haunting retelling of Rumpelstiltskin, and Roseann A. Brown’s “A Psalm of Storms and Silence,” the ending of the immersive “Song of Wraiths and Ruin” duology inspired by West African folklore.
• History buffs will welcome “Internal Fire,” C. Lyle Cummins Jr.’s book about the invention of the internal combustion engine and the individuals (including his father) who brought it to life right here in Columbus. (Lyle signed copies especially for Viewpoint Books!)
• Young kids will happily snuggle up to read the newest picture book from bestselling duo Jory John and Pete Oswald, “The Smart Cookie,” about a cookie who is never quite smart enough.

It isn’t signed (wouldn’t that be a coup?), but the new two-book illustrated box set, “The Lyrics,” brilliantly celebrates the creative life and musical genius of Paul McCartney. It’s undoubtedly on your favorite Beatles fan’s holiday wish list.

Lore Olympus is here and will soon be winging its way to smart pre-order customers along with an enamel pin and special edition bookmark, rewards for early shopping! A few copies are still available but come in (or call) NOW if you want the comprehensive graphic novel collection for Lore Olympus, the Greek mythos reimagining and No. 1 webcomic distributed by Webtoon.

There’s so much more. Come see us Monday-Saturday 10-5, and remember: we take 10% off new releases every Tuesday.

People rarely realize that they’re in the process of making history. They’re too busy making it. So the small cohort of men working in a cramped bay of a garage on the fringe of Los Angeles in February 1962 had no idea that the car they were assembling would sell at auction for $13.75 million five decades later or that the lanky, laid-back Texan overseeing the project would become one of the most enduring legends in automotive history.

When Deere made improvements to the 20 series line in 1969, it applied much of them to the 2510 and changed the name to the 2520. The engine on the Power Shift models received a displacement and power bump, which kept the power ratings equal for Power Shift versus manual shift models.

IH offered gold demonstrator tractors in 1970, and they featured special gold paint and were loaned out to customers to test (hence, "demonstrator"). The 544, 656, and 826 were available with either a gear or a hydrostatic transmission while the 1026 was hydro only. It is interesting to note that the Gold Demonstrator program came during the last year of production for a number of models. Former Harvester dealer Dick Lantis said that the company was frantically trying to dump inventory in time to introduce their new 66 series tractors, due in 1971.
