Zillow has always been a wannabe MLS. They have always been dependent upon two thing: Realtors doing our jobs and consumers not understanding how Zillow actually operates. They are more like Pinterest than MLS.

Their data is always second hand, very often dated and incorrect (especially for sales), and they have never cared about protecting consumer's data or privacy. Through this they cause unnecessary problems that consumers don't understand but Realtors deal with often. Now they are trying to dictate rules to us (Realtors), thru our associations.

Again - They are dependent upon Realtors doing our jobs and consumers not understanding how Zillow works. So when we ignore them (because they have no authority whatsoever) the only leverage they have to act out against us, is to limit what they post, thus limiting their own reach. Hopefully this will begin to help consumers further understand how Zillow is the Milli Vanilli of Real Estate.
