Just a reminder that Austin Dharma Punks is Zoom only until next Sunday, 03/12, and will not be meeting in-person tomorrow. (Additionally, the Zen Center is holding a zazenkai session tomorrow, so it's important that we not disturb them by inadvertently walking in.)

𝙂𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙐𝙥𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙚 & 𝙈𝙚𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙧 || Just wanted to provide an update on the status of Austin Dharma Punks & calendar for upcoming sits:

After posting our call for new facilitators, Laura reached out and volunteered to begin facilitating the in-person & hybrid meetings on Sunday, March 12. As a peer-led group, we're excited to have someone new stepping into this role. Those of us who have been coming plan to support Laura as she transitions into the role & will be available to fill-in, per the group's cooperative spirit.

𝗦𝗼, 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱, 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻-𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 @ 𝗔𝘁𝘅 𝗭𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 & 𝘃𝗶𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 (𝗭𝗼𝗼𝗺) 𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟭𝟮, 𝗮𝘁 𝟭𝟭a𝗺.

Please note that we will not be meeting next week (03/05) because the Zen Center is holding one of its "Zazenkai" sessions that morning. (To avoid disrupting them, we cannot enter the Zen Center that morning.) Most of us are planning to take 03/12 off from Zoom, too, but folks are always welcome to pop-in for a virtual sit.

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝘼𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣 𝘿𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙢𝙖 𝙋𝙪𝙣𝙠𝙨: 𝘼 𝙎𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩-𝙊𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙋𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙁𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨 || Having been part of Dharma Punks since 2008, I've gotten a tremendous amount out of our weekly sits & discussions. Many people, even when we come sporadically, take solace in knowing this easy opportunity for meditation practice is available on (most) Sunday mornings. All that said:

If the group is to continue meeting in-person at the Zen Center, we need more people to take on monthly facilitator commitments. Since regrouping post-pandi, it's just been 2-3 of us switching off, which is proving to be unsustainable.

As most of you know, we're a peer-led group, and facilitation is super easy. Basically, you just:

--- Show-up 10 or so minutes before 11am to open the space & turn on the pc/webcam, for virtual attendees.

--- Make sure we have someone lined up to lead the 15-minute guided meditation, which is easy because one of our virtual members does it most weeks & there are easy options avaliable when he's gone. (We also have a 15-min silent sit.)

--- Pick a short reading, from something related to Buddhism, meditation, and/or adjacent topics.

A great way to spend an hour, late Sunday morning! So if you're interested, feel free to contact me (Brent Lloyd) via info in comments.

Just a reminder that we will have a business meeting tomorrow to discuss the transition back to in person meetings at the Austin Zen Center which will begin the following week. The main issue is the Zoom meeting and what will become of it.
