What an incredible weekend at our Certified Babysitter Training! 💙

We loved spending the day equipping compassionate, dedicated caregivers with the tools and confidence they need to provide safe, nurturing care for children and youth. Participants learned about trauma-informed care, medication administration, safe transportation practices, and CPR/First Aid, all while connecting with others who share a heart for supporting families in our community.

Thank you to everyone who attended and invested their time in becoming trusted, informed caregivers. Your willingness to learn and serve makes a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families.

Stay tuned for future training opportunities with Fostering Hope Austin!

☀️ Summer Sanity: Less Pressure, More Presence

Forget the perfect summer. This year, we’re focusing on something better: connection.

At Fostering Hope, we believe children don’t need perfect parents or perfectly planned days, they need connected relationships. That’s why we’re launching Summer Sanity, a weekly series filled with simple, TBRI®-informed tips and activities designed to help families build trust, strengthen relationships, and make the most of everyday moments together.

💙This week’s focus: Connection Before Correction

Children are more likely to receive guidance when they feel seen, safe, and connected. Connection isn’t rewarding behavior, it’s preparing the brain to learn.

✨ Connection Challenge: Spend 10 uninterrupted minutes each day doing something your child chooses. Follow their lead with curiosity and delight.

Because connection is the bridge that carries correction.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Kristi Kirk to the Fostering Hope Board of Directors!👏🏼

Kristi and her husband, Daniel, are parents to six children, including two who joined their family through kinship and foster care. Since beginning their foster care journey in 2019, they have welcomed 15 children into their home and continue to faithfully serve children and families through foster care ministry.

In addition to her role as a foster and kinship parent, Kristi serves as President of Concordia University Texas, where she is committed to making high-quality Christian higher education accessible to students from all backgrounds.

When asked what she wishes more people understood about foster care, Kristi shared:

“Everyone has a role to play. While everyone is certainly not called to foster care or adoption directly, there is a way for everyone to get involved in the child welfare system, supporting biological families as well as foster and adoptive families.”

We are grateful for the wisdom, leadership, and passion Kristi brings to our board and look forward to the impact we’ll make together in support of children and families across Central Texas.

💙Welcome, Kristi!!

Celebrating a Family Recovery Court Graduate 💙

Last week, we joined Judge Larson and community partners to celebrate one parent’s graduation from Family Recovery Court, a milestone that reflects tremendous hard work, perseverance, and commitment to building a brighter future for their family.

We were also honored to partner with Sew Sisters to gift a handmade quilt, symbolizing the warmth, care, and support that surround families on their journey toward healing and reunification.

Congratulations to this graduate and thank you to the many organizations, advocates, and supporters who help make these moments possible. Together, we’re building stronger families and stronger communities.

This Foster Care Awareness Month, we’re continuing to learn from voices and perspectives shaped by personal journeys through foster care and adoption.

We asked members of our team to reflect on two questions: What do you wish you had known earlier in your foster/adoptive journey? And what helped you keep going during difficult seasons?

Their answers reminded us that no one was meant to walk this journey alone. Community matters. Hope matters. Asking for help matters. Showing up matters.

Swipe through to hear wisdom from Josh, Jordan, and Patty as they share honest insight from their own journeys. We’re grateful for the stories, perspective, and experiences that continue to encourage and strengthen families every day. 💙
