We love seeing the creativity our community has! Carla J posted this incredible mixed media work of art in our ZOX VIP Facebook group, and I couldn’t look away until I was sure I found every little thing she had put together. And all in the box of last year’s Coffin advent calendar!

I was lucky enough to get one of the Halloween calendars last year. It came in a fantastic lidded, coffin-shaped box. Being a mixed-media artist, I of course saved that box, not knowing for sure what I was going to do with it. Several weeks ago I hit on the idea of making two Halloween collages out of it: one in each side of the box. I have finished the first one, which I did in the lid of the box. I’ll start on the other one soon.

Does anyone else feel like they’re burdening their friends and family when you tell them about a bad day? Sometimes I rant about things I’m stressed about and that’s fine, but when it comes to sadness, grief, depression, or just an all around bad day, I feel like I’m also bringing down the person who only asked the simple “How’s it going?”

I’ve started branching out. Sometimes it really is fine, and that’s okay! Nothing to write home about, not bad, not good. Just a day. But sometimes I really DO feel that weight, and I’ve started using these other phrases, depending on how much I want to share, and how much I’d like from other people. These are great ways to start the conversation, without putting any pressure on the other person.

Today was supposed to be different, wasn’t it? You woke up determined. Set your intentions. Maybe even put on that outfit that usually makes you feel invincible. What they don’t tell you is this: every single hard day you’ve faced so far has lost. Every. Single. One. You’ve got a perfect record of making it through your worst days, even when you were convinced you couldn’t. That’s not luck - that’s the warrior in you, showing up even when showing up feels impossible.
