Cold snaps and drizzle throughout Texas reminds us of what's really important - Wastewater Averaging Season!
Most multifamily communities are charged on a gallon for gallon basis, but residential homes usually get a fixed rate that's established in the fall and early winter months. Conserving water during those times is the key to locking in a low rate for the rest of the year.
The city of Austin put up a great video explaining the process at:
What is Wastewater Averaging? DescriptionEver wonder how Austin Water calculates how much you are billed for wastewater? This helpful video explains wastewater averaging, how we calculate...

Despite cooler temperatures, the drought continues, and will continue through the year. This means burn bans continue as well, as much of central Texas is still facing high or very high observed fire danger. Take a look at Texas A&M Forestry Service's fire danger map to track your specific area.

Performance Utilities recently reached out to their clients to name their top priorities. Each one of them said the same thing, a fast response time and that the property manager did not have deal with a resident's utility billing issues.
With these priorities in mind, Performance Utilities created a series of efforts designed to increase e-billing accounts and make it easier for residents to view their bill details and pay online through their community portal.
The results of these efforts have been immediate. Since completing the e-billing push, calls from property managers in response to residence issues have dropped to zero, and the only calls from residents have been to either start or stop service. We are proud to have taken the input of our clients and create a solution that ensures that their priorities are met.
With record heat and historic demand, Texas' electric grid held strong this summer. The Electric Reliability Council of Texas has released its full Roadmap to Improving Grid Reliability to the public.

The La Nina pattern is likely to continue throughout the fall and into the winter. The good news is that it's unlikely to last beyond that, and the bad news is that it will be back again in 3-5 years. It's always time to prepare for the drought.
The end of La Niña is finally in sight The International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI) recently released a forecast where they announced that they expect La Niña conditions to persist through roughly the end of the ca…
Smart thermostats reduce energy use and cost while maintaining ideal home temperatures. Performance Utilities installs smart thermostats throughout Texas. We've found that our communities with smart thermostats have significantly lower electric bills and keep residents just as cool in the summer heat. If your multi-family community doesn't have smart thermostats installed, contact us as soon as you can. You may even get a local rebate that covers the cost!

Beyond the challenges of the drought, Texans are also concerned about the electrical grid. There's no need to be left in the dark about electric reliability. The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) posts real-time conditions and predictions of grid conditions on their website.
Grid and Market Conditions These dashboards offer a snapshot of current conditions in the ERCOT system. The timestamp on each indicates when the information was last updated. Click the Full View link on a dashboard for an expanded display.
