See how we nurture the Whole Child
We believe Montessori education is not only a methodology but also a way of life. School in the Hills nurtures and leads children through a physical, intellectual, and social-emotional path. Our class environments are well prepared to meet the childrenβs every need and interest.

Teachersβ favorite thing: a three day weekend. π
To all the hardworking dads out there, thank you for all you do. We hope you get to spend this long weekend making memories with the people who think you're the best.

With patience, coordination, and a little determination, this student worked to transform oranges into a well earned treat.
Turns out, the juice was worth the squeeze. ππ

On a day when Austin got plenty of water, our campers learned what happens when a cactus gets some too.
As part of our desert exploration, campers observed how a dry cactus sponge absorbed water, helping them understand how real cacti store moisture to survive in harsh, dry environments.
The cactus soaked up the water. These friends soaked up the moment. ππ΅β¨

Dads & Donuts: complete. π©βοΈ
Thank you to everyone who joined us for a sweet start to the day. We loved seeing our students enjoy a special morning with the important people in their lives.
The donuts disappeared quickly. The memories will last a little longer. π

Bug Week took us into the wild! πΌβ¨π
Our campers spent the morning at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center exploring the habitats that insects call home. From blooming flowers that attract pollinators to hidden nooks perfect for curious critters.
Along the way, campers stopped to admire the flowers and investigate the natural world around them. They even encountered a woolly mammoth... which, to our knowledge, is not technically a bug. π¦£π
The mission was to learn about insect habitats. The flowers understood the assignment. The mammoth was just happy to be included.

The world is a pretty big place. πβ¨
Through their study of People Around the World, students explore different cultures, traditions, and ways of life while developing respect and appreciation for our global community.

Some campers participate in Bug Week. Some campers become Bug Week. π¦β¨
Our campers have been discovering insects through art, observation, journaling, and outdoor exploration. This butterfly enthusiast appears to be taking her research very seriously.
Next stop: the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, where we'll investigate what the bugs have been up to outside of camp. πΏπ

With all the recent rain, our campus is thriving- and apparently so are these campers. They found a shady spot, kicked back, and enjoyed a little quality time together.
Honestly, they might have summer figured out better than the rest of us. πβοΈ

Our first summer field trip is in the books, and the campers had a wild time at the Austin Zoo. πΎπ
As part of our Wild World camp theme, we've been exploring biomes and habitats, so there was no better place to see those lessons come to life.
What makes the Austin Zoo extra special? It's actually an animal rescue and rehabilitation center, giving many of its residents a second chance and a forever home.
As for the many big cat photos... we'd like the record to show that we exercised tremendous self control and only wanted to pspspsps at them a little bit. π±π
The habitats were explored. The campers were fascinated. The big cats remained unimpressed.
