First Bull Ride 5/10/26.

Big Bend Trip 4/18/26. After another camp on the Rio Grande, the wind began to pick up on this Friday evening. After we got up and made our way to the Hot Springs Historic District Lanford the wind carried on and we had sand in places that it could never get to without a west Texas wind. But nonetheless we enjoyed the hot springs before carrying on to our last campsite for the trip.

Big Bend Trip 4/17/26. After the hike to Balanced Rock, we drove to the next campsite. At the new campsite we saw four Javelina's, fat and happy. We carried on and enjoyed the sunset, and a little bit of fishing. And yes, no fish were harmed.

Big Bend Trip 4/17/26. After packing up from the Lost Trail Mine hike, we drove a six mile gravel road and started on the Balanced Rock Trail. Along the way we found two lizards duking it out for dominance or just boredom. After watching, we carried on and found the balanced rock and a tan.

Big Bend Trip 4/16/26. After a hike back from the Emory Peak Summit and a drive to Terlingua for food, drinks, and relaxation. We decided to hike the Lost Mine Trail in the desert sun with the breeze picking up. A long walk up many switch backs but well worth it for the view. There is some folklore and superstition if you want to look it up.

Big Bend Trip 4/14/26. A late start but the tent was comfortable. We made our way through the five mile trail to the campsite and then set up camp, dryed out my clothes, since wearing a fur sweater I sweat a bit, then started our hike to the summit of Emory Peak, the tallest mountain in Big Bend. The sunset mixed with the rain storms moving in was a spectacular experience.

Big Bend Trip 4/13/26. After setting up camp, we decided to hike the Window Trail at Chisos Basin Campground and enjoy the sunset. And what a sight to behold. While at the end of the trail, a good cigar and relaxation was necessary.

Big Bend Trip 4/13/26. First thing in the morning hiked the Closed Canyon Trail, a quick warm up before driving to Terlingua for lunch.

Big Bend Trip 2026, 4/12. We made it to Big Bend Ranch State Park and camped along the Rio Grande River. So naturally I had to break out the rod and do a little fishing. And kept my pistol on my hip since there was a youg man on the Mexico side carrying a long range rifle. I do believe he would have had the upper hand but use what you have. But thankfully all was calm. #2026
