Informative workshop thanks to Travis County Appraisal and participants who brought great questions!

We learned that Texas is a non-disclosure state which means there is no mandatory sales price disclosure. Because they lack a direct feed of every transaction, appraisal districts spend resources on a mix of indirect and private sources including MLS and neighborhood protests to determine sales prices.

From looking more into this: State lawmaker Michelle Beckley D-Carrollton tried to pass a bill to make sales price disclosures mandatory but it did not pass. By making the sales prices transparent it would make appraisals more accurate and reduce the burden on Texas homeowners by correcting a systemic undervaluation of high-end and commercial property.

Transparency and a direct feed of sales prices to Appraisal Districts would benefit Texas.

We, Anderson Community Development Corp partnered with the Travis Central Appraisal District and the community for a great session on understanding your Appraisal Notices, Exemptions, etc. We had a great turnout! Thanks for all who participated!
