I will have to catch y’all up on all of the other fun projects we have had going on in the last couple of months, but since this is fresh and SO EXCITING, I figured I would put this out there. I am so lucky to have repeat clients with such fun and challenging houses to build/remodel. If you want to follow this journey through more than just my socials, check out the homeowners’ page documenting the project. https://www.facebook.com/share/1KvbyMACdQ/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Been doing a lot of kitchen and bath remodels lately, so it’s always a good feeling to go to the mill and smell all of the beautiful lumber! What species am I taking home?

Had to do a little desk building recently since my wife could better use our regular home office for her new job. Got out some 1” thick Eastern Red Cedar slabs I had milled out of some logs I traded for 2 bottles of Crown Royal (thanks Terry! That’s a different story altogether 😁), and did a little book match operation.

Somehow you always get the coolest looking creatures in these book matched Eastern Red Cedar pieces. What kind of creature do you think is lurking in my desktop?

Well Folks, it’s been a while since we have graced each other’s presence! Since we last saw each other, we have turned a house built in 1911 into one that is almost fully self-sustainable, completed a few major remodels, and have been putting in a lot of sweat equity for getting our custom woodworking business off the ground. For now, I leave you with some wood and a “Good to see ya!” #(F)untilNextTime

I am so extremely happy the way these logs milled down! Nothing like trading a little bit of whiskey for a lot of logs (that were going to be burnt in a pile), and getting all of this beauty after sending them to the mill. When I find some spare time, I will be making some tables, mantles, picture frames, and plenty of other odds and ends out of these. Thank you Devin and Sarah!

Last week was a big bummer for most of us and our trees in Central Texas. My family was very fortunate to have power throughout, and to lose minimal tree branches. I felt the need to help out my less fortunate neighbors (with no power and lots of broken branches), and encouraged my son to come help with me. We got my pole saw and sawzall, and helped cut down and clean up a bunch of our neighbors’ broken branches. Made my heart happy to be able to teach him that you can give without receiving and feel really good about it.

Viola! All of that lumber magically turned into pool benches! The awesome people at Cowboy Pools] hired us on to help supplement their supply, and we’ve been having a grand ole time making them! Reach out to Cowboy Pools] if you fancy one.

It’s a whole lot of lumber cut into a multitude of pieces. What are we assembling? Finished product photos coming soon!
