What if a child's brain forgets what their eyes just saw? 🧠👁️

Visual memory is the ability to recall visual information—like letters, words, shapes, or patterns—long enough to process and make sense of them. When visual memory is weak, learning can become a constant uphill battle.

Here is why it matters:

Reading & Spelling: Strong visual memory helps children instantly recognize sight words and retain letter sequences for spelling.

Math Recall: It allows students to visualize math problems, remember steps, and recall basic math facts quickly.

Signs of Difficulty: Children with weak visual memory may frequently re-read lines, mix up similar letters, or take much longer to complete homework.

The good news? Visual memory can be trained and strengthened! Activities like puzzles, memory-matching games, and targeted vision therapy exercises can retrain the brain to process and retain visual data efficiently.

If your child struggles with reading comprehension or memory recall, vision therapy could be the missing key. 💡

August is Vision & Learning Month, and here’s the truth: 20/20 eyesight isn't enough for the classroom. 📚

A standard eye exam only tests distance vision—it misses the 17 functional visual skills (like eye tracking and teaming) required for reading.

📊 25% of students have a vision deficiency glasses can't fix.

🧠 75% of kids with learning differences (like dyslexia/ADHD) have a visual skill deficit.

🚩 Red Flags: Skipping lines, closing one eye, post-homework headaches, or letter reversals.

If reading is a struggle, the issue might be visual—not behavioral! 💡

Swipe through to test your vision skills, and ensure your child is ready to thrive this school year.

Did you know kids now spend an average of 6–8 hours a day in front of screens? 📱👀

Between homework, gaming, and tablets, that's nearly a full school day of device use! Extended screen time can significantly increase your child’s risk for digital eye strain, frequent headaches, and even myopia (nearsightedness).

Here are 3 easy tips to help protect your child’s vision:

Follow the 20-20-20 Rule: Every 20 minutes, have them look at an object 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.

Get Outside: Encourage daily outdoor play to give their eyes a natural break and focus on distant views.

Keep Bedrooms Device-Free at Night: Removing screens before bed protects both their vision and essential sleep quality.

Protecting your child’s eyesight starts with proactive care! Schedule a comprehensive back-to-school eye exam to catch visual issues early and keep their eyes healthy all year long. 🎒✨

Does your child struggle to sit still, lose their place while reading, or constantly fidget in class? 🪑 It might not be a behavioral issue—it could be a retained Spinal Galant Reflex.

This natural infant reflex is meant to fade by 9 months. If it stays active, any touch or friction on the lower back triggers an involuntary urge to squirm.

This constant physical restlessness indirectly hurts vision and focus. When a child is always moving, their eyes struggle to smoothly fixate, track words, and sustain attention on a page—frequently leading to reading fatigue and behavior struggles.

The good news? Therapies like reflex integration and vision therapy help retrain these neurological building blocks so your child can sit comfortably and thrive!

Not all vision problems are visible. 👀

Did you know someone can have 20/20 eyesight and still struggle with a vision problem?

Vision is so much more than seeing clearly. It’s how your eyes work together, focus, track, and send information to your brain. When these skills aren’t working efficiently, they can impact reading, learning, sports, attention, and even confidence without anyone realizing vision is the cause.

Vision deficiencies often go undetected because children and adults assume everyone sees the world the same way they do.

✨ If something feels “off,” trust your instincts. A comprehensive vision evaluation can uncover what a routine eye exam may not.

Smooth reading depends on how your visual skills integrate together. 🧠 It requires a perfect partnership between your central vision (focusing on each word) and your peripheral vision (guiding your eyes across the line).

When these two systems don't sync up, your eyes make too many micro-stops—called fixations. More fixations equal slower reading and rapid fatigue. Fewer fixations allow your eyes to glide across the page seamlessly.

Vision therapy directly strengthens these tracking skills so your eyes can work together naturally!

Is homework time always a battle? 📚 It might not be a lack of effort—it could be Convergence Insufficiency (CI), a common condition where the eyes struggle to work together up close.

Because the eyes are constantly fighting to stay aligned, it causes frustrating symptoms like headaches, eye strain, blurred words, and reduced attention. In fact, because the symptoms look so similar, CI is frequently mistaken for ADHD.

The good news? Vision therapy safely retrains the eyes to coordinate as a team, making reading easier, clearer, and far less stressful!
