As we reach Holy Wednesday, we remember the offering of the myrrh-bearing woman—an act of love and repentance that prepared the Lord for His Passion.

May we also anoint Christ with hearts softened by fasting, prayer, & the longing to receive Him in His glorious Resurrection. 🤍

We are especially blessed this week to witness beauty taking form in our community—the mosaic at our Mt. Tabor Community Center is nearing completion! With deep gratitude, we celebrate the sacred craftsmanship of Fr. Tarsizios, Fr. Athanasios, & Sevastos Aslanis of Athopetra Mosaics, whose hands are helping make visible the glory of God.

Let us walk these final days of Holy Week with tenderness and awe, preparing room in our hearts for the Risen Christ. 🌿✨

Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church's teens love going to the GOYA Basketball Tournament every year, but this year we have to get them to Kansas City, and we need your help!

If you'd like to support the kids with an order of a pointsettia or two (and if you are local to the Austin area, because have to hand deliver them or you have to pick up at Transfiguration on a particular Sunday in December), I know they'd appreciate it. Message me for information.

Thank you to our dear Yanna (Office Administrator), for 10 years of faithfully serving our parish. What a gift she is to all of us!!! Thank you also to our Philoptochos President, Panagiota Katsos, for organizing a lovely celebration and gift for her.

Here’s a poem that Father Vasileios wrote and read to her:

In a world where grace and skill unite,
There shines a star, both bold and bright.
For ten long years, with heart sincere,
Yanna’s service has brought us cheer.

As office manager, her role so grand,
She steered our ship with a steady hand.
With paper bulletins, and tasks to track,
She kept us on a forward track.

A secretary, wise and true,
In every letter, every view,
She crafted words with careful grace,
A touch of warmth in every case.

In Greek she speaks, with fluent ease,
Translating texts, a subtle breeze.
Her voice connects our countries now,
In every word, her gifts endow.

Caterer of meals so fine,
Her dishes are the taste of time.
Each feast she serves, a work of art,
With flavors that warm every heart.

An organizer of boundless zest,
She makes sure all things are at their best.
In every event and every plan,
She’s the heart of our church, and Philoptochos’ hand.

From Crete she comes, where legends live,
With pride and strength, so much to give.
Like Texans proud of their vast land,
Her heritage shines even stronger and grand.

Her faith in Christ, her guiding light,
With unbounded love, her soul takes flight.
Devotion deep and service pure,
Her heart and spirit ever sure.

From κόλυβα and άρτους—holy
She takes care of us all—όλλοι
Her ear is open to hear with care
There is no one else with whom to bear.

So here's to Yanna, with gratitude deep,
For the endless days, the tasks she keeps.
For ten bright years, she’s been our core,
We honor you now, and we adore.

May your days be filled with joy anew,
For all you’ve done and all you do.
Thank you, Yanna, for all you've given,
In our hearts, your light is forever driven.
