Safety isn’t about politics—it’s about protection.

🔒We’re keeping a close eye on new bipartisan momentum at the federal level that hits very close to home.

The newly introduced Kimberly Vaughan Firearm Safe Storage Act—named in honor of a student lost in the 2018 Santa Fe, Texas school tragedy—focuses entirely on education, awareness, and making safety gear affordable.

One of our favorite parts of this proposed legislation? It includes a federal tax credit to make high-quality gun safes and lockboxes much more accessible for families who want to responsibly secure their fi****ms.

You don’t have to wait for a bill to pass to protect your home. Did you know that the state of Texas already exempts firearm safety equipment, lockboxes, and gun safes from state sales tax?Let’s take action together today. If you or someone you know needs a secure solution, we are here to help.

Head to our website to request a free gun lock or learn about the best secure storage options for your family.

Adjusting to a new reality in the wake of a disaster is a difficult process, but it does not have to be navigated alone. Stress levels may rise, making it difficult to figure out next steps for survivors and their families. In addition to the supportive techniques listed in this post, external supports like the Crisis Counseling Program (CCP) provide emotional support to survivors of disaster. The resource is free, confidential, and available 24/7; call (512) 472-4357, day or night.

⛈️ Rain or shine, safety doesn't take a summer break! ☔

Austin has been getting slammed with some major summer storms and rain today, which is the perfect reminder of just how unpredictable life can be.

Summer is a time for fun, family, and freedom—but it’s also a critical time to reinforce safety habits at home, on the road, and in our communities. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing vital resources, quick tips, and actionable steps you can take to keep your loved ones secure all summer long.

How you can lock arms with us today:
1️⃣ Stay safe on the roads: Austin streets are slick right now! Slow down, turn on your headlights, and give yourself extra braking distance. 🚗
2️⃣ Check your home prep: Use a rainy day inside to ensure your safety locks, emergency kits, and secure firearm storage are in place.
3️⃣ Share the message: Keep an eye on our page this month for safety checklists and share them with your Austin neighbors.

Let’s protect our community together. Drop a 🙋‍♀️/🙋‍♂️ in the comments if you’re locking arms with us for a safe summer!

☀️ Let's Make This a "Summer of Safety" We Can All Share. ☀️

Summer is for sunshine, block parties, and community connection. But as we open our homes, it's more critical than ever to ensure they remain safe havens.

"Keeping Austin Weird" should also mean keeping Austin safe. When you practice responsible safe storage, you are part of a movement protecting the next generation.

We are calling on our community to GET ACTIVE by adopting these three critical habits. Share this post with your friends, neighbors, and family to spread the message and save lives! 👇

1️⃣ ASK: Before your child goes on a playdate, ask if there are fi****ms in the home and if they are stored safely. Normalize the conversation!
2️⃣ SECURE: If you own fi****ms, use a lock, safe, or lockbox. (Lock Arms for Life provides free locks!)
3️⃣ SEPARATE: Ammunition must be stored away from the locked firearm.

We can protect our Second Amendment rights and protect our kids simultaneously. Let's do this together.

Owning a firearm for protection means keeping your family safe from accidents, too. Tragically, a fleeting crisis or a curious child can turn an unsecured firearm into an irreversible mistake.

Let’s change the culture around gun storage, one household at a time.

🔒 Unloaded.
🔒 Locked.
🔒 Separate from ammunition.

It’s that simple. Join the movement at lockarmsforlife.org and request your free gun lock today. 🤝❤️

Nothing beats getting the team together around a big table—especially when it involves Central Market and some serious momentum! 🌿☕️

We had a fantastic strategy session recently, and we were so glad to have Lance from our Ops team and Pat from our board join the huddle this time. We covered a lot of exciting ground, including getting a sneak peek at our new website, launching a dedicated Gen Z strategy, and diving into our pending and new grant applications to help fuel our mission.

One of our biggest takeaways? We are shifting a major focus toward video. Going forward, you’ll be seeing a lot more faces, stories, and video content integrated into almost everything we share.

We left the table feeling inspired and ready for what’s next. Stay tuned—there is so much good stuff coming your way! 🚀
