okay so that was some record breaking heat yesterday…clearly we all need to be prepared (and we’ve got just the heat relief you need 😉☀️)

come pick up a jug of cold brew from retail to keep in your fridge for the hot days ahead! 😎
we can tell you alllll about the tea here…literally! don’t let our name fool you - you won’t just find coffee beans under our roof, but loose-leaf tea sourced from all over the world too! ☕️🫖🍵

just like our coffees, we have a wide assortment of seven different kinds of teas: black, green, white, oolong, yerba mate, herbal, and rooibos.

tea is near and dear to Beth and something she knows A LOT about - and she passes on that knowledge to the rest of the bean team - so come on in and let’s talk tea!

you can also learn more about each type of tea, their flavor profiles, origins, health benefits, caffeine content, and optimal brewing methods by checking out the link in our bio ☕️
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! 🍀🌸☘️

Order something from our ✨new✨ Spring Has Sprung menu while you take a break from the #sxsw festival on our shaded patio 😋🌈🌼
If we’re your wholesale coffee supplier, you don’t just get our beans, you get our brains! ☕️🤓

Here’s Sam (our education lead) teaching our own baristas how to dial in our brand new espresso machine, just like he’d teach your staff all about the ins and outs of brewing!

When we partner with you, it means we’re with you every step of the way.

Check out the link on our page to learn more about our wholesale experience! ☕️✨

happy valentine’s day 💕 romance your mind and your senses by reading today’s beautiful and provocative piece by Jeanne ✨☕️ (blog link on our page!)

Excerpt:

“This was supposed to be about love, romance, perhaps seduction. In the end, it was supposed to be about coffee… However, my thoughts have led me down a rabbit hole and into a labyrinth of myriad dark and branching passages. All that I intended is a consideration of the eternal enchantment of chocolate and intoxicating seduction of floral effusions - and by extension a consideration of the possibility that a cup of coffee might in fact have the capacity to lead lovers back to one another, or at least to a warm inviting place where they might meet again, and again, and again…

Over a lifetime it is easy to lose track of one’s ‘self’, to get lost in the mire of life’s mandate…to be overwhelmed by the smell of cardboard, old pilled blankets and sweaters, the lingering sour scent at the bottom of the trash can, the grey exhausted stink of an ashtray…empty bottles and bags rattling in the dark hallways of our minds, speaking to us of all the things we have forgotten.

Smell triggers memory, and like bread crumbs leading me back to myself these smells are among my favorites:

the smell of leaves burning, toast, freshly mowed grass, my dog’s paws, honeysuckle flowers, chocolate, freshly ground black pepper, oil paints, cinnamon, pine trees, tea, coffee...If it were possible to live forever, it seems likely that all of these provocative aromas would be woven into the tapestry of my eternal universe.”

- jeanne martin

today’s meet the bean team is going to be a little different bc many of you have met, know, and love this person. as some of you may know, Wes’s last day in austin was a week ago and while we are so excited for him and this next chapter of his life, we are going to miss him so much.

most recently, he worked as our retail manager and here are some things that his now former Bean Teammates have to say about him that exemplify him pretty well:

Sam (sales; former barista): “Genuine, thoughtful, green thumb, the best guitar player I’ve ever played with, and a steadfast and loyal friend. I love him so much.”

Meg (retail manager): “I will miss all the general weirdness and fun chaos.”

Suzanne (barista): “I enjoyed all his characters. Mr. Boddington, an English professor, was one of my favorites.”

Nishtha (social media): “He is one of the most fun, and easiest people to work with. When it came to making videos, he was a natural - a “one-take wonder.” Whenever I walked into retail, he’d always, always give me a grand greeting with a big smile and that made me feel really good every time I came into work.”

Jen (sales): “Best hair, bestest heart.”

Lexie (hr manager): “Working with Wes was working with my best friend.”

Alli (general manager): “Wes was the first person that I ever interviewed and we kind of grew up together in retail. He was a great friend, a great barista, and I know our regulars are going to miss him.”

Beth (co-owner): “I’ll miss everything about Wes. I can’t even talk about it without crying. I’m very happy for him. He has such positive energy, he gets us, he sets positive standards, he’s a plant whisperer and he takes pride in it and our customs know that. He’s genuinely sincere about his connection with our customers and employees and I look forward to every time he visits.”

Wes - we will miss you, we are so excited for you, and we love you!

- Meet Shea! You know the really cool interactive coffee history map that we just released? She created it! Shea is our graphic designer and even if you don’t know her, you’ll have interacted with her work. Among other projects, she built out our current website that y’all order from, as well as the beautiful new coffee labels we released in 2020!

Before this, Shea has worn a lot of hats while at TCT. She’s been a part of the Bean Team in various capacities since she was 19 years old - almost 12 years! When she first got hired while a college student at UT, she worked the farmer’s markets and worked on campus as a barista for several years.

Right after graduating, she managed catering at UT and then moved to California. When she returned, TCT re-hired her and along with farmer’s markets, she started doing events and transitioned into graphic design work.

After she moved again to do graduate school in Marfa, TX, TCT offered to continue employing her remotely and she explained how “that really saved me, to be able to have a secure job during grad school.”

We’re all extremely proud of her - she graduated last May and was doing interdisciplinary studies that focused on art and conservation biology (how cool is that???). “I did work in photography, ceramics, and paper making, while studying the connection between landscape and art.”

Now she is teaching analog and dark room photography at Sul Ross State University (from where she graduated) while still working as our designer.

She enjoys drinking black, single origin coffees because she really appreciates “being able to taste all the flavors of the regions and growing conditions. My favorite is probably the Sidamo Vienna Roast and the Monteverde Natural Roast.”

Her most valuable TCT experience - “and probably one of my most valuable life experiences, period” - was getting to visit Monteverde, Costa Rica. “I will forever be grateful to Beth and RC for taking me. It was amazing getting to meet the harvesters and see the farm and everything from the beginning.”

Swipe to check out some of her personal film photography of Costa Rica!

We feel incredibly lucky to have her 🥰❤️✨

We’re golden!! TCT will be serving up golden lattes with turmeric from @curcumakitchen 💛

Our mission is to be a positive part of people’s daily lives, and theirs is to make it easy to incorporate healing foods into people’s daily lives - so we’re pretty thrilled to partner with them!

Additionally, many of y’all know that we advocate for a better coffee trade, and the ethical and sustainable production of coffee around the world, with our own direct trade relationship with Cafe Monteverde in Costa Rica;
Curcuma Kitchen’s turmeric is sourced from Diaspora Co. -

their mission is to build a better spice trade (equitably and deliciously) by sourcing India's freshest, sustainably grown single-origin spices, directly from their partner farms in Andhra Pradesh, India.

We’re excited to proudly serve this to y’all, and to get to do so by working with a fellow local business which shares so many of our own values.

Can’t wait for you to try it and enjoy its immunity boosting benefits 💛✨
